Hey I have a question about SSM#40, i was wonder for the people who read it today
who was the guy peter was talking to and showed him all those people???
I am just wondering because i dont really know offhand.

It was God.
I was totally confused about that too!

Concluding that may-be it was supposed to be THE "God" (as in, the one true, almighty GOD) didn't come till near the end.... since in the comics we deal with so many demi-god type characters, you never know.

It was interesting... was it a vision? Was it real?

my first thought when he said "Peter you know who I am".. was dammit...the freaking Spider-God....as it went on it became pretty clear there'd be no giant spider embracing...whew.......as I said in another thread, I was surprised that they used the name Mary for one of Pete's kids...and not May

LOL! I had the same thought/fear when I saw that guy start to glow... :woot:

Thank goodness they didn't go THERE! I was a little worried about what kind of strange theology was going to be implied here... but it was tolerable I guess.

I guess it makes sense that they would not name ANOTHER child May... they already had a girl with that name.

It was a different kind of story... but I think I like it (still processing).

It was a nice way to end the book...

God shows Peter all the people he has saved... and Peter is touched.

But when he says "I don't want my Aunt to die. Please don't let her die." God just touches his shoulder and says, "Have faith Peter..."

And then he's gone.

The narrator says... Let's say it doesn't end here... Let's say the man Peter Parker and his family survive all the hardships... (and we see Peter, MJ and their two kids, Mary and Benjamin growing older together). Let's say it ends with all of them blessed.

Yeah... I like that thought. :)

Agreed about the why the wouldn't name "another" child May......I thought it would have been cool....since it would appear this was a possible ending, if they used May to throw out the possibility that May, may still be alive......

ok guys thanks for the ideas i was jsut wondering if it was possibly a character i dont remember from the past.

Honestly, I thought at first he was Morlun, and then began to think he was Loki or something.

Aloha,
I thought it was well written.
Spidey rules

I liked the issue. It was very different from any Spidey story I have read before, and I like that. I loved the panel where God shows Peter just how many people he has saved throughout the course of his career as Spider-Man.

yup I loved it as well...although I'm confused as to why God wasnt drawn to look like Jack Kirby, as it's been established in Fantastic Four that's what he looks like :p

Like I said in another thread, its mighty STRANGE how "future Peter" had white temples but MJ was still YOUNG.

Suspicious to the max, sends off alarms...

And while its nice Peter and MJ pay homage to May (and or past relatives) do you think that for ONCE they could come up with fresh names for their kids??? Not related to the past???

Oh, yeah... I'd predict this is going to be a classic.

...yeah I'm feeling guilty....I'm gonna go back up and pick it up....I don't feel guilty reading off the rack when the story annoys me.....think I'm just going to email my guy in Halifax and put all 3 titles back on my pull list...was waiting till JMS left but screw it

Whoa, don't go crazy! Just go get this issue... The Book of Peter.

Too late, went crazy a long time ago :)....and once I found out JMS was leaving I decided to give all three titles a second chance....just moving it up a month or so

it was a nice read. ALthough one line bothered me:(or maybe it's because those OMD theories are making me paranoid)"I'd give up everything to save her"

I don't to sound so disrespecting, but Crain's God looks like a freak

Sorry God

Heh I thought it was a mutant at first or something. The issue was pretty weird to read, but it worked. It's hard to explain, but as I'm reading the issue I'm like "Ok, this is strange"...then I reach the end and I'm like "Damn I loved this issue".

I thought this issue was great probably one of my favorites threw the Sensational Spider-Man series.

SPOILERS SPOILERS

I kind of knew it was God when he healed his hands...also when they gave the description of the comic on Marvel.com lol. I loved when he showed Peter all the people he saved and said''Well, I'm counting team-up's but...yeah'' lol.

It was certainly an odd issue, but I enjoyed it.

Yeah, God looked like a crackhead. :o
