... with this many award winners and contenders?

The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan - Oscar nominated (Best Picture, Screenplay)
Wally Pfister - Oscar winner tonight
Sound Editor Richard King - Oscar winner tonight
Sound mixing crew - Oscar winners tonight
Visual effects crew - Oscar winners tonight
Hans Zimmer - Oscar winning composer

Christian Bale - Oscar winner (Best supporting Actor)
Michael Caine - 6 time Oscar nominee and 2 time winner
Morgan Freeman - 4 time Oscar nominee 1 win
Anne Hathaway - Oscar nominated for Best Actress in 'Rachel Getting Married'
Marion Cotillard (still rumored) - Oscar winning Actress

Gonna add Oldman here cause it's a crime that he hasn't had any nominations for an Oscar with a career with brilliant performances as he has. And Tom Hardy is a good up and comer.

Add Ledger (Oscar winning) and Liam Neeson (Oscar nominated), and this would have blown my mind back in the day.

I was just thinking about this, it really is awesome

And it is a travesty because I still regard Oldman as probably the best actor in this franchise.

10 years ago did anyone think a Batman would have ever walked away with an Oscar for anything other than a technical award?

Batman (as a franchise) has always had the fortune of nabbing some of the best actors and talents in the business, dating all the way back to the Adam West series.

So no, I'm not surprised at all.

Yeah not suprised at all, i feel like Batman really started the trend for Comic book movies to now get these great casts .

our batman and joker are both played by oscar winners

one of them because of their batman role

And that's why we can be the smuggest superhero fans on the internet. We gots the goods to back it up!

It really is the best time to be a Batman fan right now.

He's dominating everything in pop culture.

Movies, TV, video games, comics. It's great.

Iron man was doing ok what with all its Oscar winners its just to bad the sequel had to suck.

Even the most die hard of Iron Man fans would concede Batman has got the best all-round team of any superhero franchise.

I agree with all you said except the comics. I cant wait for a new writer I think Grant Morrison has terrible Batman stories. And the current multiple Batman storyline is stupid. I find his story-lines convoluted. I could go on because i really dont care for his work.

Morrison's run is the best batman run of all time. Name a better one. I dare you.

Any run. Ever. I hate him. Too much time travel, aliens, and don't get me started on the whole Batman Inc. thing... This is a night for celebration! I don't even want to hear Morrison's name!
Also it's not even the right forum to be discussing the comics.

Back on topic: I was very pleased with the oscar nominated cast we got for Begins and I'm even happier that the whole franchise has continued to grow in its prestige.

Hahahaha agreed. Batman should be about fighting crime and one man agains a city. NOT magic and time travel and silly stuff like that. Sorry for using the M word.

Its too bad about Nolan but he is young i dont think he will wait as long as Scorsese. People bash them for not nominating him this year and i agree but it was a really strong movie year and all the best directors were really good so that softens the blow a bit.

tsk tsk, so many grimdarkbat fans are unwilling to embrace the characer's science fiction side.

Magic is not sci-fi. :whatever:

Sci-fi requires a scientific foundation, even if fairly loose. Sci-fi requires that there be technological explanations.

Magic is fantasy.

Fantasy requires nothing but someone saying "poof!" and something thus being so. It's hogwash for children.

Batman has always been and will always be the most grounded of superheroes. He is the greatest of them all, precisely because he does what it requires magic/alien origins/mutations/et cetera for all the rest to accomplish.

I enjoy Superman. Wonder Woman. Green Lantern.

I enjoy X-Men. Spider-Man.

But I only respect the Bat.

A character who can do what he's done for 70+ years without any powers, any abilities beyond that of a disciplined man, mind body and soul... that's a gods damn hero.

The fairly distant next best thing is Iron Man, and with a suit like that, it's less about the man more about the machine.

Nolan's Batman has done more to restore the character's gravitas and reality than anything in recent memory.

Technically, the previous Burton-Schumaher franchise was also packed with some serious starpower. I mean, Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, heck, even freaking Arnold Schwarzenegger.

 Yes, so 10 years ago I thought it was possible.

Even as a kid I remember one of the most exciting things was getting to see which celebrities would be in the next batman movie.

that would be so awesome to see TDKR posters and trailers with

ACADEMY AWARD WINNER
CHRISTIAN BALE
:awesome::awesome:

Hell yeah! Christian Bale got it!!!
Wally got another one as well!
