Seth MacFarlane's "A Millions Ways to Die in the West"

I still have yet to see Ted, though I am planning to. I hope it was actually funny and not just a two hour long, live action Family Guy routine.

It was actually surprisingly well thought out and funny. And I haven't been able to stand Family Guy since I was a dumb-ass in high school.

Family Guy was enjoyable until they turned every character into a psychopath.

That seems to happen a lot with animated sitcoms.

Because the mainstream fanbase likes to see them acting like that.

For me, it was them turning the episodes into 3 parts pop culture references that don't in any way apply to the story, 1 part actual plot.

I guess so. But look at Cleveland. In Family Guy he was a likable guy. Not particularly interesting, but there was nothing to dislike about him.

Then he got his own show (why, is anyone's guess), and he's turned into a petty, egotistical - well, he's basically turned into Peter.

Or rather, what Peter himself turned into. Peter was a moron from the Pilot. But in the early seasons he was at least someone you could root for. He cared about his family, and had limits.

I think his TV became less funny because he over extended himself. With Ted, he was able to focus his energy on one point.

Exactly!

I'm still going to give Ted a chance though.

He's talented i'll give him credit but i've never been a big fan of creators who put themselves so much in the spot light of their work.

I mean if you compare him to a matt groening or mike judge who let their work talk and kind of stayed behing the scenes. Hell even matt and trey of south park have toned it down a lot.

Hey for real, as a massive Seth Macfarlane hater, Ted was the ****. Totally surprised me not only how hilariously funny it was but how good of a movie it was too. It's actuall really good

If you consider that he voices... Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, and Glenn Quagmire on Family Guy (that alone should be a full time job), Stan Smith and Roger on American Dad, and (had to check Wikipedia) Tim the Bear on the Cleveland Show... yeah, he's very over extended.

Surprising he has time for anything else, really. Whole Family Guy episodes have been just him talking to himself.

I think Seth will sigh of a thousand reliefs when Family Guy or whatever end their run. I think he wants to move on, and this is a sign.

I'd say the Cleveland Show was a cry for help.

But I don't think he's all that involved in it. I still can't believe that got made... and it's on its fourth season.

He's said before that he agrees with those who say it's probably time to wrap it up. Put Fox has such a ***** for their current sunday animation line-up that they'll probably never let any of them go. The Simpsons should've died a long time ago.

A McFarlane movie? R rated? Blazing Saddles style? Ticket == bought.

Sounds great. I loved Blazing Saddles and I've always hoped someone would try and be Mel Brookes' heir. He's such a funny man but lets face it he's not getting younger.

It'll never measure up to Blazing Saddles --- nothing can, in the genre of parody --- but I'm definitely aboard. I'll keep an eye on this one.

There are possibly two comedies that stand out in the genre:

Blazing Saddles
Airplane

I consider them the Pele/Maradona of comedy films.

If gets to the Zidane, Cruyff etc standard, that will still be impressive :).

Need to see Ted come to think of it.

I thought Ted was great and I'm a fan of Seth's work in general, so I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Ted was like an episode of Family Guy but with a coherent plot.

And more heart.

And R-rated, which is what FG shoulda been since season 6.
