Mystery/Thriller Severance (Apple TV+)

Trailer dropping tomorrow .

I wouldn't be surprised if this gets cancelled after season 2, due to bad ratings. Unless you're as big as Stranger Things or Game of Thrones, you just can't take a break that long. I love the show, but I personally don't know anyone who's also watching this. Same thing happened to Warrior unfortunately.

The show is highly acclaimed and got several Emmy noms, including best drama.

It's hard to measure popularity, but from the apple shows I do have the impression it's one of the most popular. And it does not seem to have a big budget like other productions.

When it comes to long gaps that is not so unusual. Most of HBO shows like HotD, Last of Us, White Lotus, Euphoria, Succession, True Detective and Curb Your Enthusiasm take 2+ year gap. Hell, Curb had a 6 year gap at some point.

I predict Severance will last just like The Morning Show is.

Maybe if Severance was on HBO or on Disney+, sure that might be a big concern, but Apple (and Amazon) doesn't care as much about ratings because they can afford to spend a lot on shows and not feel it.

They've greenlit new seasons to shows that have done worse in the ratings than Serverace plus Severance has awards and cultural reach.

Yeah if anything Apple treats their shows similar to what FX did in the beginning, where they are focused on bulding a library of content, even if the ratings ar somewhat low.

I can't wait!!!

God I hope they manage to get a season per year now.
