Sex and the City Sequel: SJP & Co. Make it Official!

Break out the bubbly—the Sex and the City sequel is finally official! All four stars—Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis—and writer-director Michael Patrick King have now signed their deals for another round of Carrie Bradshaw & Co. As it is, King has yet to write a script, but shooting will reportedly begin this summer with a release date sometime in summer 2010.

Reps for the stars and the studio did not immediately comment. In its first weekend alone, Sex and the City opened with almost $58 million in ticket sales, reportedly making it the biggest R-rated comedy opener ever. Budget to make the movie? A cool $65 million.

Quick recap in case you were one of the few who missed it: When we last left Carrie, she had married Mr. Big even after he left her at the altar. Samantha and her young beau (Jason Lewis) split, while Miranda and Steve (David Eigenberg) patched things up after he cheated on her. Charlotte and Harry (Evan Handler) not only adopted a baby girl, but Charlotte gave birth to a second daughter.

So what should happen next? Let the suggestions begin!

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get all the hate for this. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's not the end of the world so theres no reason to be like "Nooooo!!!!".

I gotta say, considering how they ended the first one, i have no idea what they could do for a second one. Should be interesting to see what they can come up with.

Well, I'm secure enough in my masculinity to say that I loved this show, and the movie, while not perfect, was pretty good. So I'll watch the sequel, although yeah, I'm not really sure where else it could go. I do hope we see more of Steve and Harry; those characters kind of got the shaft in the last film in an apparent effort to give Jennifer Hudson a reason for being in the movie.

Not really surprised, the last movie made **** loads of money and these so called actresses aren’t exactly turning down offers for big Hollywood films.

Exactly what the world needs... more movies with middle-aged ****es sucking down cosmos (among other things...) and being the envy of every damn woman, aged 16 to 80.

I cant ****ing wait.

AIDS!! I want one of them to get AIDS!! That'll be a great message to send out to all the vein and careless people in the world who worship this stupid premise of a show/movie and its' dumb characters. ALL OF THEM SHOULD GET AIDS! *I actually like the show, it's worth watching, but the whole premise of the show is just going backwards into the land of dumb dumb dumb women* AIDS!

I agree. The first was pretty good in my opinion, but I'm a little concerned since the article implies they would like too shoot the film this summer but a script hasn't even begun.

I laughed at this part. I'm pretty sure most of the male population qualifies as "one of the few who missed it".

Damn, I got beaten to making this thread :(

Carrie will get knocked up with the spawn of Big no doubt. Let's see what else

-Charlotte will have more children and continue to be more adorable. Harry will have 3 more lines than in the last one
-Samantha will date Zac Efron, humilate herself in the process, and then probably move to Florida to start being ****ty in the retirement homes
-Art will imitate life and Miranda will come out of the closet, in the process humilating herself completely. Steve will breathe a sigh of relief and pray he can get work outside of SATC
-In order to one up himself from the Cinderella shoe proposal in the last film, Big will actually buy Carrie the Manolo Blahnik company. Carrie will still, however, worry about Big's commitment.

And in a suprise twist ending, all 4 of the girls will be crossing the street and they will be hit and killed by the NYC bus that displays Carrie's infamous ad.

FIN

I have a lot of rage towards the sequel :yay:

Can't wait.

Who knew fanboys were so threatened by women? Oh, wait…

I tried watching the show a few times, but never really got into it. I actually liked the movie when I finally saw it.

Only in appearance in some cases... let me tell ya that when i went to see it, there were many men waiting in line... and they didnt look forced to be there :hehe:

I find it hilarious.

OMG, A MOVIE THAT ISN'T ACTION/ADVENTURE ORIENTED AND MARKETED TOWARD A FEMALE AUDIENCE IS BEING MADE?!?!?!?

HOW DARE THEY!!!!

Anyone who thinks that someone who hates Sex and the City is threatened by women is sadly mistaken. Just because we think Sex and the City is complete **** doesnt mean females on TV/film is a huge disaster.

Warner Bros. and New Line will release "Sex and the City 2" in theaters on May 28, 2010.

Film sequel director-writer Michael Patrick King reteams with his four leading ladies--Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

John Melfi returns to produce with King and Parker.

"Sex 2" bows in the same slot that "Sex and the City" did in 2008.

The bigscreen adapation of the hit HBO series was a runaway box office hit, opening to $57 million on its way to cuming $152.6 million domestically. Pic made an even stronger showing overseas, grossing $260 million at the international box office for a worldwide total of $412.6 million.

For some reason, I want to see him in a movie with Jeffery Dean Morgan. Not as gay lovers or anything, but . . . .something.
