Mario Cantone Says 'Sex and the City' Scripting, Could Film In Fall

Comedian and actor Mario Cantone has told the AAP that Sex and the City creator Michael Patrick King is hard at work on a feature film script for the hit television series, and the movie could begin filming as early as this fall. "I know the script is being written and I know it will be brilliant because Michael Patrick King is writing it. I know that I'm in it. I have a nice part in it, I'm told," Cantone said. He also added "nothing is definitive yet," but "if it happens, we should film it in the early fall I think." Sex and the City, centering on the adventures of four single Manhattan women, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, enjoyed a successful run on HBO from 1998 to 2004, and rumors of a film project have sparked up occasionally since then.

Alleged squabbling between cast members and unsuccessful negotiating have kept the project on the backburner thus far, but several news items appeared in November 2006 indicating the film was back on track. Cantone hinted that the success of The Devil Wears Prada might have created a better atmosphere for the project to get going. "If you look at The Devil Wears Prada, it was such a big success, this would do even better. Sex and the City has the audience, and I think it's a good time to do it now, because enough time has passed since the TV series ended."

Would you like a tampon to go with that vagina of yours Green? :cwink:

But I mean, c'mon, a Sex and the City movie? For what? I'll admit, I watched the show pretty regularly in its later years, but what would the movie really cover? Do we really need anymore closure on the series? Charlotte and her Jewish husband get their little asian baby, Miranda marries her baby's dady, Samantha survives cancer and gets her hot young boyfriend, and Carrie gets back together with Big, like no one saw THAT comin'! What else is there to tell?

Why another Star Trek?
Why another Halloween?
Maybe some people want more of these characters, I do. I think King's a pretty darn good sitcom writer and am definately interested in what he comes up with, which you know would send these characters into different unexpected directions. I could never get enough Samantha.:woot:

I want more of these characters....bloodied, impaled, being nibbled on by diseased crows, etc.

They should've got Sarah Jessica Parker to play Mephistopheles in Ghost Rider.

I got another one. :o

You some kinda girl or something?

King Directing Sex and the City Movie
Source: MTV
May 23, 2007

MTV reports that former "Sex and the City" executive producer/director/writer Michael Patrick King will helm the big screen adaptation of the HBO series. The movie will mark his feature directorial debut.

The film is tentatively scheduled to start filming this fall, but show regular Mario Cantone revealed that none of the stars have signed on yet. "They called me about my availability, but nothing’s negotiated," he confessed. "Hopefully if all the negotiations go well, it will happen in the fall. HBO's just gotta give everybody what they want. It better get done cause I want to do it."

Cantone said that his character, Anthony Marantino, plays a major role in the eagerly-awaited flick.
