According to Bof: http://batman-on-film.com/batmovienews.html

There is a rumor going around that 'Batman 3' may well come out as a winter 2009 release. (Think Matrix Revolution/LOTR/KONG etc...)

Could all be BS, but if its not, ifs theres something to this, I'm liking it.
What say you all?

December 2009?

3:47 PM TEXAS TIME: CINEMABLEND.COM says that while Two Face will be the main baddie in BATMAN 3 (SHADOW OF THE BAT?), The Joker will return and Catwoman will make her first appearance in a Bat-film since 1992 (Catwoman? Makes sense, and I've heard that as well). Click on the link provided for the full story.

3:04 PM TEXAS TIME: BOF got word over the weekend from "Anonymous by Choice" -- who is actually a good friend of this site -- that Warner Bros. could already be eyeing a release date for BATMAN 3. Now -- and I have said this in a long while -- take this info with a grain of salt as our scooper said this could "...well be crew/set gossip." Anyway, according to our source's source, WB may be targeting Winter 2009 for B3, making it a Holiday release. Personally, I can't see another Nolan-helmed Bat-flick -- that's if Mr. Nolan decides to do a third tour of Gotham -- until Summer 2011.

"Dear, Warner Bros., About That JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie...."

Both movies before it were summer releases.

Doubt they'd want to break that.

Probably, but if true, wouldn't that mean Nolan is filming some stuff from B3 now? mean, Surely he can't shoot B3 AFTER TDK, he wouldn't have time. Plus this would mean Nolan would move straight into B3 from TDK with no break.

not nessecarily thebatman072
maybe just maybe
they will film tdk and batman 3 back toback
like potc

however the idea of getting them out before this jla movie is reasonable aswell

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rumored-Release-Schedule-For-Batman-3-6256.html

Earlier today we posted about an inside scoop we’ve received regarding villains for Batman 3. That’s right – rumor has it a second sequel to Batman Begins is already in the works. It only makes sense, doesn’t it? After all the rumors we’ve been hearing aobut Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight. Harvey Dent, Edward Nygma, The Joker… too many big names for one picture, but setting up a third film within the second is just logical.

Well, we’re not the only ones receiving news about a possible Batman 3. Batman on Film has gotten word that Warner Brothers is scoping out a possible release date for a third Bat-flick: Winter 2009.

Now, Batman on Film’s anonymous source says this could just be crew gossip, which actually sounds likely in this case. After all, when all is said and done, it’ll be three years between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (although he did do The Prestige in between). Saying Nolan will grind out another Batman movie in just over a year is a little absurd. Although, if the pieces of the puzzle were already put together, meaning the cast and crew were already secured, I suppose it could happen.

For my money, a third Batman flick sounds like a smart move, but let’s not rush this. If it takes Nolan two years to assemble one, give him the time. And for god’s sake, don’t even think about handing the franchise over to anyone short of Bryan Singer.

I mean I know we should treat it as a rumour but you know I gotta say, winter would be a very intresting time to release the movie. I've said before it seems like more and more better films come out in the fall/winter period than in the summer and there actually making a decent amount of dough during that period ( King Kong, Departed, LOTR, Harry Potter). Not saying it may make that kinda money but it certainly wouldnt hurt them to release during a christmas period right? Besides am I the only one that associates Batman and his movies with all things cold and dark? ( think Burton's joints or a Nolan film like say Prestige).
That's not to say 2009 is the right time, surely Nolan and Bale got other projects on tap and I'm also certain WB got a Harry Potter film coming out during that time. But what about Winter 2010? I would associate the Batman franchise more with the winter films (Bond, Potter, whatever Matt Damon, Di Caprio, Denzel thriller is out at the time) than with summer films.

It would be fun and I really dont see the difference. *shrug*

Intresting to note though: Watchmen is coming out in 2009, Justice League is appreantly coming out in 2009 and Superman: Man of Steel is supposedly aiming for a 2009 release. On top of that we got Harry Potter coming and maybe this Batman third film?
That's a big year but at the same time that is literally throwing out all your franchises in one year.
My guess? These are just rumours and reactive panic to the impending strike in Hollywood (which is why your getting a ton of rushed projects). I'm assuming the studios realise its pointless to 60% of that lineup if its not intended to have those release dates originally.

But what do you all think?

You raise good points

your winter is our summer so i see no trouble in releasing
as Casino royale was released then and it did well

if this rumor is true i believe they may be pulling a potc move

however i don't believe nolan should be pressured into production by wb
give the man some time
he never dissapoints

I just posted a follow up in the DC boards about how I think this is part of all the talk about studios being incline to rush out films for a possible strike that would affect any film coming out 2010 and beyond.

Maybe that's a possiblity as to why the crew have been mulling about it on set..

As I've posted in another thread. Won't happen. Last year Nolan signed a contract stating he will first direct The Prisoner right after The Dark Knight.

I also have a link from 06, before he started TDK he said, "After I finish this second Batman film, I will begin work on The Prisoner." Everyone keeps forgetting about this, but the fact is, there's no way in hell Universal Pictures would even allow him to do Batman 3 before this film.

They aren't filming it back to back. You don't just begin production on a movie then half-way through filming decide, "let's film another back to back." When 2 movies are filmed back to back, they always begin pre-production on both at the same time. So unless WB has some secret agenda and planned for both films to be shot back to back from the get-go, it's not happening.

i would love it to happen this way, but it's not going to. there's no point in hoping for it.

I don't think Nolan will agree unless if WB write big $$$.

Not gonna happen for the obvious reasons pointed out by Socko... it's B.S people... let's be patient. Now 2010? Probably not either... but I like the three year gap... the only thing I don't like is that the actors look way older than they were when they first started playing their respective roles... but the three year gap is generally the best way to go. Ideally you'd like the first one and then the sequels in years 4/5 but we have already seen twice how that can backfire big time... so give it the proper time in between and you'll be set.

There's two answers for this in my case:

1) I really would not mind it if came out on Winter 2009, hell of a Christmas gift
2) I really don't think they will actually do it; unless they have filmed some key scenes from the third one already. That would maybe explained the rumored 200+ million dollars budget

What I'm trying to say is would anyone mind if the third one came out in the Winter of a given year rather than Summer?

They need to do the Bat films like they did the Matrix. Back to back 2 and 3.

Stop having us wait.

Unless WB is GOOD at hiding things like how paramount did with their monster movie.

2009, way too soon.

2010 is problemy when it's going to come out. I hope Two-Face and Mr. Freeze potrayed by Bill Nighy are the villains in Shadow of the Bat.
