One thing that is great about this movie is the shadow effect on Bats during this movie. I LOVE how most of the time, his face is darkened out and you just see his eyes.

And the eyebrows on the mask. Damn, that makes him look intense.

It gives him that mysterious, Dark Knight look about him. In BB, I felt that mystique was toned down a bit. I hope they do that in the sequel.

I think the only scene were Batman was a little cheap was when he parks the batmobile in the middle of the street and runs on the sidewalk with all those people. Takes away the urban legends mythos a bit. I mean, couldn't burton have him park in the alley, open up the hood and grapple right out, so no body could see him for too long?

But the rest of the scenes with Keaton's Batman was brilliant. Especially the top of the church with the above mentioned lightening effects.

Absolutely.

I specially love the Batcave scene with Basinger. When she's telling him people think he's as dangerous as Joker and you can see his eyes moving slowly. Truly creepy.

And they resemble Keaton's eyebrows.

I'm sure Nolan will improve many things for the sequel.

Totally agree.

The top of the cathedral sequence is absolutely brilliant.

Nice to meet you da3d. Btw, none of my business but... may 2003 and 14 messages?

That's one thing about Keaton. Sure, he's a scrawny little dude, but his eyes and eyebrows scream Bruce Wayne.

Also, the scene when he's sitting on the sofa talking to Alfred about Vicky. He thinks about it for a second, then switches to detective mode. "Alfred, get me the files on Napier".

I really hope Nolan makes him a detective in the next one.

Lol! I'm kinda a forum lurker. I like reading people's opinions and voice my own only when I must. Yeah, '03 is a long time ago. :woot:

El Pasayo? Nice... Speaking of which, have you seen this spanish fan-film?

I won't spoil what it's based on. ;)

if i remember correctly, he couldn't get through due to road construction or something like that, so he couldn't really go anywhere.

That's true, but at they could have make it look cooler and more stylistic. Like even if they couldn't get though, they should have done something like this:
--

Batmobile comes to screeching stop in front of a road block

Batman (looking irritated and turns to Vicky): Grab onto me!

Vicky (looking confused and reluctantly hold onto Batman): What!?

Roof of Batmobile open and Batman aims his grapple gun to the rooftop of the nearby building and the couple appear to fly up as Gotham's pedestrians look in wonder and confusion.

Batman (as he's flying up): Shields

--

Or something to that effect.

Oh I've seen it. Maybe the best fanfilm about Batman i've seen.

Terrific scene indeed.

I love the scene in the cave with Vicki where you can only see his eyes when he says "Take this to the press".:up: The shadowing is awesome, I really love how it was done during the Axis Chemical shootout as well.

That was awesome.

I wish I could takes parts of BB and B89 and make an amalgam of the two.

Take the action parts of BB for instance. Sure, there was a lot, but I felt the sense of style was taken away. It was too, I don't know, going through the motions type of thing.

Totally agree. That would've been way better. That scene would've totally owned. To me that scene almost destroyed the mystery of Batman in the film. It was just either out of character, or plane weird and out of place. Burton always talks of Batman not wanting to be seen, has a mythic presence, etc. but he just hops out of his car and runs down an entire city block ?!?!? ...

Not only that, but the citizens just look at him like ... "whatever" and go about doing what they're doing. No frightened faces or anything. At least in BEGINS when he is some what scene in public (when he falls into the alley after being on fire, thew few that see him back away and look frightened at the sight of him) ...

speaking of lighting effects, i really like that scene in the cathedral when that thug is back flipping towards him and after batman crushes his nuts, he looks up and there appears to be this light around keatons eyes, giving him a very supernatural creepy look. i always liked that part. it reminded me of what they used to do in old horror movies like bela lugosi's Dracula, when they would put a light on his eyes and give his eyes an illuminated, ghostly look. i also think they did a great job with the shadowing in Returns as well.

I hope Nolan adds some the shadowing, mysterious style to The Dark Knight.

I'm sure he can make Bale's eye glow like Keaton's. :woot:

What about the scene in returns where he confronts penguin the stare he throws penguin is pure batman micheal Keaton will always have the batman aura for me.

Some of the lighting in Batman was absolutely inspired. I particularly loved the shots in the Batcave with Vicki ("The Joker? Hmmph. He's Psychotic" - "Some people say the same thing about you" - "What people?!!") - Keaton's eyes really stood out in contrast with the shadows. It gave him a real sinister look.

There's only one shadow that I'd love to change in the movie - the bloody animated shadow that moves on top of the building at the beginning of the film: just after the wife screams after being mugged.

I'd hoped for some kind of cleanup on the S.E but nothing.

I can live with it though.........

Dude, that part cracks me up all the time. It's just, couldn't they have just have a guy with a cloak up there doing the same thing? Batman TAS looked more real then that! :oldrazz:

Keaton definitely had the best Bat-eyes and they lit his face very well.
