Im more sure of my choices than I was before if that counts.

Have watched a few Shazam scenes multiple times where as since the second Captain Marvel viewing I have had no desire to revisit it.

This one's gonna be tough because neither were any good.

Captain Marvel was rushed. The screenplay was poor, especially what they gave Brie Larson to work with. That was compounded by the fact that her attempt to be stoic felt stiff as a board. It belonged in Phase 1.

I finally watched Shazam two weeks ago and frankly couldn't wait for it to end. Some of the humor early on was cute, but after a while it got repetitive, even downright irritating (like it was trying to be a PG Deadpool). The end sequence with the Marvel family was corny as hell, especially the 7 Deadly Sins. There were moments of really painful dialogue too (specifically by the Wizard). I'm still curious how they continue integrate this character in the DCU years down the road as the child actor continues to age in real life.

    CM, but not by much.

    Shazam!

Funny, since Infinity War, I've been enjoying the DCEU movies more than the MCU movies. That includes Endgame.

Yeah I am kind of the same, though for me I didn’t think much of Aquaman at first, grown to like it more on subsequent viewings though.

    Nah
Endgame completely blows Aquaman out the f***ing water
    pun fully intended

and other than that, there's only the subject of this thread, Shazam vs CM... on that, I give it to Shazam, just a little
but if Marvel gets a better director for CM2, I'm confident that series will improve

Just finished watching SHAZAM! right now, and I think it's the mildly better one of two good films.

I think Captain Marvel is the better of the two meh films. Wasn’t a fan of either of the actors playing the title characters.

Such a shame we couldn’t get Pratt as Shazam he would’ve been 100x better.

I have to say CM is standing up very well to repeat viewings for me, hopefully Shazam can do the same.

I dont think those movies are anything fantastic. Shazam was a bit better, becouse you cared for the main character.

Shazam had pacing issues for me, but I loved the family themes, had a cool villain and overall was fun to watch.

I wanted to cry within the first ten minutes of Captain Marvel because I wanted it to be over already. I didn't like it.

I liked both of them, but Shazam has a little more rewatchability to me, and IMO Billy is a little more heartfelt than Carol as a protagonist. I also like Freddy a lot as the sidekick and Sivana was a cool villain.

Shazam. By quite a margin for me.

Captain Marvel was just painfully boring. And whilst I like Brie as an actress, Carol Danvers just sucks as a character. Shes the female Hal Jordan.

I said before that I would wait to rewatch them before voting, but I haven't rewatched either of them since then. Not a strong pair of films that are going up against each other.

Captain Marvel was fine, but I think that her being misused in Endgame in my view made me less interested in rewatching it.

The more I've thought about Shazam, the more I've begun to think that nothing in the film really works that well for me. The biggest disappointment was that it wasn't funny, but also that the main character isn't really likable and the family aspect felt weird when Billy doesn't really care much about his new family until he needs them.

Before I saw them Shazam felt like it would certainly be the better film, but it was quite disappointing so my vote goes to CM.

I went with Carol, because a) I watched it with my wife, who absolutely adored it and b) admittedly, some MCU bias. But they were both solid flicks with some significant flaws.

I loved how closely Carol's origin hewed towards that of the comics, I felt the female forward message was handled very well, enjoyed the Skrull twist and thought Jude Law's ally from hell was terrific. But Brie was bland - part of that may have been due to the amnesia story line, but it it is what it is. And her team up with SLJ - the de-aging tech worked on the face but not his movement - REALLY dragged.

As for Shazam - loved Zach Levi, the humor, the heart, his relationship with Freddie, the mother twist (That got DARK!) and the foster family (both regular and powered up). But I didn't like Sivana being changed from Mad Scientist to Evil Shazam. That's Black Adam's job, and I think a villain with retro looking doodads and thingamabobs would have been better fit for this movie. And the muscle suit was absolutely dreadful. There was no need to pump up an already fit Zach Levi to that degree.

Shazam is the best source to screen adaptation DC has done in years and my personal favorite film of the DCEU where Captain Marvel felt like just another Marvel movie to me but it had a fantastic cast.

Loved Shazam, was a great transfer from page to screen and the cast were brilliant. Total enjoyment for it.

You know I haven't watched Shazam in quite some time, probably since it first dropped on blu-ray. I need to give that a rewatch when I get some time because I walked out of that saying it was my favorite DC film ever.

Watched Shazam last night again in my folks, me and my family love it. However Captain Marvel also seems to get better everyone I watch it. The 2 most re-watchable CBMs from 2019 for me. Endgame and FFH seem to get worse each time I watch them. Not sure on Joker yet.
