SHH Fanart Lovefest... SHH Artists

So I was thinking of a way to promote some of the great art here on the boards to people who just stop by now and then. This is what I came up with...

Everyone takes a turn posting 2 or 3 of their favorite pieces done by one of their favorite artists on the boards here @ SHH.

I was thinking I might start, and then the person I pick would in turn pic someone, and so on.

A few guidelines...

1) To keep it slightly fresh, don't just pick the person that picked you.

2) Pick only 2 or 3 of your favorite pieces done by your choice (that way its not just a reposting of their thread)

3) Be sure to include a link to their thread, so if people like what they see they can go check out more.

4) Send your choice a private message letting them know about this thread and that its their turn.

5) Lastly, if it gets kinda quiet in here due to someone not responding with their turn, I'll just post another of my favorites to start it back up again.

I'll start with the 1st (to be followed by many more, hopefully) pick of the thread...

Phig (click here to check out his thread) is just one of the many artists here on SHH that have their own truly unique style. There's something about his lines that are really fluid and just in general his compositions are amazing.

If you're not familiar with all of his stuff, CHECK IT OUT NOW!

Here are just a few of my favorites pieces, all by Phig!

This is an amazing piece that is a perfect reflection of Phig's style. Great fluid and EXTREME pose. Amazing detail in the wings and the tree.

Again an amazing piece by Phig... I love the graphic figure set against the texture of the grass. Cool depth with the cliff too.

One last pic by Phig that I this is amazing! So dynamic, great character, and beautiful color palleted. Love the lighting work too!

what a fantastic idea for a thread and what a tremendous honour to be chosen to kick it off. thanks matt! and if it brings one person by my thread who wouldn't have made it otherwise then i'll be delighted.

wow, this is a GREAT idea for a thread Mattchew! there are already quality pieces being posted on the thread and it's barely even started. Phig's stuff looks pretty cool and Drawfu's stuff is crazy! great chance to show off artists on here that we might not know about. kudos Matt.

I'm pretty sure Matt wanted people to take turns, but it's his thread so if he doesn't mind...

right gang, sorry to keep you waiting for this! it was the bristol comic book expo this weekend and my play is rapidly nearing opening night so i've had quite a bit on my plate...

but enough about me, onto my choice to showcase in this thread. it was certainly a really tough call. matt suggested that i be a little more imaginative than just picking him, which i'm happy to do, naturally, but matt's work is so feckin phenomenal that he really deserves to be showcased as much as anyone on here, so i hope someone else picks him later on.

but anyway, yes, after much deliberation i have chosen dchisholm. this guy, despite having the annoying habit of lapping up his fellow hypesters' praise and critique but very rarely bothering to check out anyone else's threads [sorry! b--chiness over!] is a real inspiration to me. he might not be technically the best artist on these boards (which he is the first to admit himself!) but his drive, determination, and story-telling skills are amazing.

the progress and improvement he's made over such a short period are mind boggling, but right from the start he had a very cool aesthetic going on, something between robert crumb and matt wagner...

the second piece i've chosen to single out is a gorgeous gif which needs no explanation:

but without a doubt the reason why dave has been such an inspiration is the lightning fast conception, realization, production and nigh-on global conquest of his independent comic "Let's go to Utah". Here's a great panel from early on in the story featuring the kind of main character: Leif

the thing is still going and you can read it as it progresses over at dave's thread, after which you should (and will certainly want to) show your support by buying it online, you can get all the information you need here . the whole thing is by turns astonishing, disturbing, touching and funny as f--k! and the art (and especially the inking) keeps getting better and better!
