Which Side Are You On? Chapter III – Theatrical Trailer C
The following trailer, or “mega trailer” rather, is the final trailer in a three year long marketing campaign for a fictional superhero trilogy. I’ve decided to provide a little bit of context, as watching the trailer on it’s own might not make a whole lot of sense.
In December 2007, I started a Marvel/DC crossover campaign entitled “Which Side Are You On?” Essentially, I was telling my own superhero story though visual marketing – trailers, TV spots, clips, etc. Three years later, and the story is a trilogy, and the third and final campaign is almost complete. Chapters I, II and III (once it’s complete) contain one teaser trailer, three theatrical trailers, 15 TV Spots and one “clip show” that contains select scenes from the fictional film.
As far as this particular trailer goes, it is the third and final theatrical trailer for the third and final campaign. Although the story for Chapter III requires some understanding of the events of Chapters I and II, here is a basic summary:
After the events of Chapters I and II, the world is in shambles. Lex Luthor, under the control of Zod, has brought the Earth to the brink of destruction, and the heroes have lost some of the greatest allies. Some are willing to accept defeat, while others will never give up. Lex, apprehended for his crimes, is held behind bars, unsure of where to go from here, while the heroes attempt to solve the massive crisis. The third chapter introduces Ra’s al Ghul, Magneto and the X-Men as well. Ra’s wants to put the remaining people of the world out of their misery, and Magneto intends to capitalize on the weakened human spirit. In order to gain the upper hand, the villains must eliminate their biggest threat: Superman. Via Doomsday, they capture the Man of Steel, but instead of killing him, Red Kryptonite is used to alter his perception. Everything has been leading up to this moment, where sides must be chosen once and for all. Spider-Man and Superman clash, the Hulk and Doomsday tear each other apart, Wolverine and Iron Man make sacrifices, Batman must do what is necessary, and the Joker reveals that he is more of a threat than the heroes initially believed. When the dust clears, only one question remains: which side are you on?
I hope you all enjoy the trailer as much as the cheesy, back-of-DVD synopsis above. t:
