Ok, so I was just watching John and Kate plus 8 and they were discussing how they don't allow shoes in the house...

Then one of the crew members was like 'Yeah, I know... it's weird! But I think it's an asian thing."

Now I'm not totally sure about ALL of Canada but pretty much every house I've been to around where I live, no shoes allowed. It's common courtesy to take off your shoes when you enter someone's house. In fact, if you didn't take your shoes off you'd probably offend the host.

But I know this is probably a regional thing, because when my friend was visiting friends in Europe awhile ago she told me they got weirded out when she DID take off her shoes....

So ... do you?

At my house I don't wear my shoes in the house, but don't really care if others do (as long as they aren't wet/muddy)
At my dad's house it's imperative to wear shoes. He has very old wood floors that are in horrid condition, so unless you want to dig a splinter twice the thickness of a toothpick, that's imbedded itself in your heel a good inch and a half (i've had to do this) then you wear your shoes.

The instant I come home, the shoes come off. What guests do with their footwear is their own business.

I keep mine on at my own home, though the rest of the house tends to be shoeless.
at others, I just follow whatever others are doing. though a prefer greatly to keep them on.

if I'm in an emergency situation, I want my shoes on, ready to run :o

I wear my shoes in my house, but I know a lot of people who have a "no shoes" rule in their house, mostly for carpeting. I hate them.

We don't wear shoes in my house, but my guests can do what they want.

I wear slippers at home, but when people come over they usually leave their shoes on, and I do the same when going to other peoples houses.

So, do you Canadians have crazy shoe-less Christmas parties?

we don't wear shoes in the house. Guests have to take them off as well.

Is the mob after you?

It depends on the house. I definetely don't wear shoes in my apartment or my parent's house (big no no), and my friends remove their shoes at me apartment, but mostly for comfort.

carpeting= no shoes.

I'm comfortable in my shoes, and if I have company, I'll keep them on so nobody suffocates.

Yes, I do take my shoes off as soon as I enter my home and I expect guests to do the same. I'm a neat/clean freak and when I think of where the shoes have been and what have touched the soles of those shoes... I cringe!

As a guest I take off my shoes in other peoples homes, even if they don't ask me to. In my house I don't really care if people have their shoes on, I think it's more of a "relax, get comfortable" thing when I do tell guests to take off their shoes. I don't wear shoes around the house, it's mostly socks.

We leave our shoes on in my house but it has made the carpet look pretty blah so when I have my own place it will be no shoes allowed.

When I was younger I wore them in the house all the time. Now I never do... taking my shoes off is the first thing I do when I get home.

my mother always made us take our shoes off. i'll go to another persons house and start to take them off, and they'll assure me its not necessary, but i always still do. i feel weird in a house wearing shoes.

I wouldn't allow my wife's vagina to spit out 8 kids. I am sure they say no shoes because you have 8 little demons running around and more than likely at least 1 has dirty shoes. God those people are dumb for having that many kids.

I wear shoes in the house. I rub the shoes all over the place.

I am mixed. I don't wear shoes in my house, but I do at other peoples house. And people bring their shoes into my house. Sometimes they are taken off, sometimes not.

It really goes either way.

I take my shoes off b/c I like them off. I prefer people take their shoes off b/c I think it's more comfortable. The only time I care is if they're wet/muddy.

In my dorm, I take my shoes off but always wear sandals. The only time my socks touch the floor is when I go to bed. I don't really care what my roommates or other people do when they come in.

I would be so weirded out if someone didn't take their shoes off when they came in...

If you have a small apartment like I do, it shouldn't matter what you do with your shoes. Now if I had a house of my own, then maybe I'd have people take they're shoes off once they enter.

I have people take off their shoes at my place except when it comes to formal dinner parties given that for many women, they consider the shoe as to be integral to what they wear.

I usually don't wear shoes in my house all of the time but I always wear shoes in other people's houses. I'm always ready to make a quick getaway.

i take my shoes off, when i'm at home but i would say guests should do the same

if they aren't stopping for long, they can keep their shoes on but definitely no shoes on in the bedroom areas.
