For me, to get a Wii means to get a 2 in 1, a Wii and a Gamecube, so, i really want one.
Today i was at the store, picked one up, but, at the last minute, when i was going to the counter i changed my mind...i´ll sleep on it first.
But, what do you guys think?
And i mean you guy that have one....is it worthy?

In my opinion, it is. I never owned a Gamecube, so I also got two systems in one, plus the VC and WiiWare. It's obviously not the graphical powerhouse that other systems are (As the graphic ****es around here will tell you) but it can still push some pretty graphics.

On top of that, Nintendo's first party offerings are almost always worth it (Especially MP3,SMG,SSBB,MK Wii, and Zelda: TP). Plus there are many third party offerings coming up this year that look great and are keeping the dieing platforming genre alive. (Mushroom Men, De Blob, and Deadly Creatures look fantastic.) Plus there are some great hardcore franchises being created with the Wii. (No More Heroes is pure bliss, and Mad World, The Conduit, and Monster Hunter 3 will surely be fantastic.)

Plus for RPG's they have the next official installment of the Tales series coming out later in the year: Tales of Symphonia 2: :Dawn of the New World.

So I think it's worth it. In fact it is the system I play the most in my house. On top of that I can play the more simple casual games with my daughter, and I can get my wife to play some of the games, and she is not into games much.

If you are not a hardcore Nintendo fan, it still is a great secondary console for either a PS3 or 360. Then you'll get the pretty graphics and such, plus some of the greatness that is coming out of the House of Mario.

I hope this helped. :O

I've been a loyal Nintendo owner since 1992 with the SNES. I'm considering selling the Wii since its not offering anything I feel I'd like to spend my time and money on. They had their chance at E3 but gave nothing really. No carrot on a stick. Sure there is Wii Sports Resort but oh guess what you're going to have to buy another accessory to get improved motion controls. I'd much rather sell the system, remotes, accessories and games now while I can get a fair price and play games on the 360 that I wish were on the Wii.

So look at the game library, the upcoming releases and see if its worth spending $500+ on the system, remotes and games.

They gave three major carrots at E3: Mario and Zelda teams hard at work, and Pikmin 3 is on the way. Those don't count.

Also in the history of Nintendo, when have they ever released so many hardcore franchises in such a short amount of time? (Zelda: TP, MP3, SMG, Batallion Wars 2, SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, and Fire Emblem)

As of right now, Nintendo published games, the hardcore games far outweigh the casual titles, so I don't understand the griping.

Seems like you answered your own question.

If you didn't own a Gamecube then it's more reason to get a Wii. Between the Wii games and GC games, there's plenty to get and keep you occupied for a long time.

And I've played those games and enjoyed Metroid and Mario. And I was let down with Zelda and Mario Kart. Pikmin has never interested me just like Smash Bros. has never interested me. Its a rental. But if you love it that's great.

Mario and Zelda when will they come out? Not 2009. Maybe 2010. Its not worth it. I don't have the time to play games like I used to and if no game on the horizon is making me find time then what's the point?

I understand not having time. It sucks..but that's life. :(

To each his own though. Not everyone likes the Wii. I personally love it, and if you never had a Gamecube, that basically makes it much more worthwhile for you.

I have a Wii as my only current gen system. I'm in the middle on this arguement. I go months without picking it up, play my PS2 just as much, and consider there to be very few games worth anyone's time. Then there are the good games like SMG, TP and Wii Sports.. my friends consider the new Mario Kart and Smash Bros. to be disappointments. For a system designed for playing together, there are about zero games other than Wii Sports that anyone wants to play as a group. The idea of the Wii just didn't pan out, even if it's a big success for Nintendo. The motion sensors and everything, nothing really impressive has been done with the technology. Galaxy does some cool things, the best use of it is in TP when you actually get to aim the arrows and shoot moblins right in the skull, much better than having to use an analog. But thats about it. I still love my Wii though, I'm happy with it as my only console, but I think thats because I don't play alot of videogames anyway. The only game franchise I care about is Metal Gear so I'll eventually get a PS3. There aren't many good games on the Wii and few that I know of that are coming out, but Deadly Creatures does look awesome.

I'd get one if you wanted to go play the GC games you missed, play old VC games, and consider the Wii more of something to do when you are bored or to amuse your girlfriend with than an actual video game system. You should be happy with it for the price assuming you don't rack up $500 in extra remotes and everything. Maybe one day they might even do something interesting with it, but as it is now it's still an enjoyable device.

If you wanted to get a "2 in 1", then yes Wii is definitely worth it. However, Wii offers more than GC due to the unique gameplay that is made possible by Wiimote (plus nunchuk in some games). Plus, with the VC store you can purchase many classic Nintendo games as well as games by companies like Sega and NEO-GEO, so Wii is a good buy imo.

Buy a Wii was totally worth it to me. Aside from Lackluster graphics, the Wii is by far the best and most fun gaming console I have ever bought.

Since you missed out on the gamecube, BUY IT! My only complaint with the machine is the Wii's library, I have had my Wii since launch and I only have nine games for the machine, I have just as many games on my PS3 and I have only had that machine for two months.
