Seeing that most fans arent too happy with the demise of some of their favorite X-Men characters, and a lot of non-Wolverine fans think having his own movie is overkill to the character, do you think a Generation X spin-off would be more lucrative for the continuation of the X-Men franchise?
After all, it brings in new characters, it opens up a chance to bring in an entirely new reality/realm, and you get a much younger team to start with. The production value can be set a little lower than both X-Men films (for this first time film), offering a chance for it to preserve the X-Men legacy in film, and cameos of the remaining characters from the previous films can be used to springboard this property into a more, if not equally, successful franchise.
In a sense, it can redo the X-Men franchise in a way that appeals to younger audiences, which translates into more money for the studios, whom are likely to follow up with a sequel, and a bigger budget the next time around. In addition to the possibilities of creating movies of other X related properties (New X-Men, X-Factor, XSE, ETC.), which can easily be written in as sequel follow ups. Yes, theres a strong chance that the more popular X-Men characters might not make long-term appearances to the big screen, but thats what cameos are for (i.e. Gambit, Polaris, Bishop, Cable, Dazzler, etc.).
Thoughts?
