Multiple villains seem to work for Nolan's Batman movies, should Superman follow suit?

Nolan's Batman movies usually have one epic threat to Gotham and some lesser villains in the background. Would this work for Superman?

I think it would help to showcase his might if he had to take on multiple villains in this movie...

I voted yes but only if its integral to the story.

I voted maybe, but I only want more than 1 if it is integral to the story also.

In my opinion Lex could be involved in potentially all of this new series of Superman films providing he is like a Lexcorp Lex Luthor, he doesn't need to be the main antagonist in all films, however he could definatly be a villian from the shadows pulling the strings & occassionally coming into contact with the main villian.

Brainiac & Lex Luthor would be nice for the first one, Brainiac obviously being the main villian.

 for me Lex is as much a member of Superman's supporting cast as Lois, Perry or Jimmy

I also feel in the movies anyway, while Lex is an important character to Superman, movie goers need to see more from the Superman universe in terms of villians.

I mean Superman The Movie was Lex Luthor, Superman II was Lex Luthor playing backup to Zod & chums, Superman III was.. that machine Richard Pryor made & the never named (technically) "Bizzaro", Superman 4 was essentially Lex Luthor, Superman Returns was Lex Luthor.. and crystals/Kryptonite islands....

It's time to have someone a little different, I don't mind Lex playing the sort of role he did in like Superman II or 4 regardless of how good/bad those films were, but we need someone fresh for the movies.

Smallville, L&C & TNAS aren't included in this trend because they aren't movies.. however all 3 have tried/used more villians from Superman's universe than just your standard Lex Luthor plot.. good & bad.

I wouldn't mind seeing Toyman. And I'm talking creepy pedophile-like Toyman.

Somehow I can't see pedophilia making it into a Superman film..

perfectly said.

i would love a layered villian approach, like nolan did with BB. you have lex (falcone), zod/ursa/metallo etc(scarecrow), and brainiac(ra's)

I want to see Lex build Metallo Animated Series style.

If Zod is one of the villains, then cool... but I also want Brainiac and at least an appearance of Lex Luthor.

I'm assuming Lex will be there. Would intergang be considered a separate villain, or part of Lex-corp?
Anywho, i'd like something like this.
Lex, (behind the scenes)
Intergang, (causing mayhem all over Metropolis)
Brainiac ( trying to take over/destroy the world )

^ With everything that we've heard... I think we can pretty much count on Zod being in it.

Yeah, probably. But, it could be somewhat implied. Superman: Doomsday could be used as an example. He had all those kids. Men don't hang out with kids to "play" with unless there's some strange attraction.

He could just be used to show that Superman doesn't only just deal with villains who are strong, want to steal money, take over the world etc. He deals with all sorts of people and whatever goals they may have.

its easier with Batman because the small villains are from the mafia. gans and so on. its connected to the city of gotham. and batman still needs to fight those guys

with SUperman its different IMO. gans are not a problem for SUperman. hes villains need to be super smart and super strong.

This

Lex Luthor being the "main villain" has gotten old a longtime ago. I think he should definately play a part in the movie, but it's about time he took a "backseat".

General Zod would be too "cliche" in my opinion, superhero films having main villains who are basically just different versions of the protagonist is getting old.

If they handled it like Nolan's Batman movies then I see no problem with it, if the story was really good. Besides, I'm hoping they will always have Lex at least in the background, partially responsible for all the trouble.

If they handled it like Spiderman 3, then heck no!

I'm telling ya, Braniac/Eradicator/Zod/Evil Jor-El as the main villian with Morgan Edge as the small scale villian is perfection.

Lex Luthor is a villian that its not up to Superman to defeat... but Clark Kent. Would be awesome to see in the movie Clark investigating Luthor and write an exclusive to Daily Planet exposing all bad thing Lex does in Metropolis.

this ain't Smallville man...

Jor-El is not evil in Smallville. He is just a prick.

Had Smallville had balls, they would have went with a pure villianous Jor-El. But they didn't have it in them.

That's why I've pretty much stopped watching Smallville
