What do you guys think? After seeing Bourne Ultimatum, the ending of it just gave me a feeling that they let it end like that if there was a fourth film. That maybe the fourth film could start off from where Ultimatum ended. I know Damon said that he wouldn't play Bourne anymore, would you guys like the idea of someone replacing him? Should the Bourne series end with the thrid film, or should there be more?

no, matt damon is bourne. if you're going to replace a character with another actor you might as well make a different spy movie all together.

That's what I was thinking too. Though, with Bourne finding out who he was, I was thinking that maybe the series could continue with him being some sort of assassin.

damn dude, in the movies he says he does'nt want to kill other people. he's done with that life.

unless someone else decided to come after him again...but thats retreading the entire series all over again.

I know he said that. I'm just saying that maybe he takes back the life of being an assassin to go after threats around the world.

Well...they did make more Bourne novels after the creator died. So...why not. Maybe in 5 or 6 years Damon will do another one if he does a couple of bombs and want a hit again.

There are, if I recall, two more Bourne novels. One that came out in 04 and the other this year in 07.

Leave it alone, lets not tarnish the series. Its good as it is if they keep pumping out more it will just drag down the overall appeal.

No. There were 3 books. 3 movies. End it.

Yeah there were 3 books, so it should end. Leave the Bourne series at it's prime.

Guarenteed they will do something to f it up if the continue.

Damn. Still. I think Ultimatum is a good place to leave it off.

Eric van Lustbader was granted permission by original author Robert Ludlum's estate to continue the series a few years ago. Ludlum had been working on a 4th story of his own for Bourne, but when he died, his will stated that no one was to finish that story. So, Lustbader decided to start fresh, beginning where Ultimatum left off. That novel was eventually published under the title of "The Bourne Legacy". In June, Lustbader apparently published the next book, titled "The Bourne Betrayal".

Nope. Let it stand a great trilogy of spy movies.

It really depends.

If it's like Lethal Weapon 4 . . . then no.

After opening weekend, you know Universal is going to do everything in their power to try and get it to continue.

its done.... the story ended after the first movie lol

Wiki says there were two more Bourne books.
They aren't written by Ludlum, though.
I say no. Let it end at Ultimatum. Jason Bourne learned who he was, and the CIA has no real reason to go after him anymore.

All good things must come to an end. More would be overkill to an otherwise excellent trilogy.

There is nothing else to continue the trilogy's story, and anything after it is nothing but milking for extra coin.

You guys fail to understand, Hollywood LIKES overkill.

No matter what WE think. Universal and Hollywood will want a sequel.

The thread title reads "Should the Bourne movies continue?"

Yeah I know, but once again, I'm simply stating the reality.

Don't worry, films (as a whole) barely have forth installments.
Bourne 4 will probably be talked about by Universal/in talks? Yeah, probably.
Will it be made? No.
