Should There Be an Ultimate Ghost Rider

With the Ghost Rider movie coming out and the reemerging of Ghost Rider in the main Marvel universe. I think he would be an awesome addition to the Ultimate Universe and give it a little more edge. Plus it could be a great way to show that not all the heros are black and white, that even in darkness there is still some good.

they should have done what theyre doing with the current series as an Ultimate series. that way it wouldnt be so "what the hell is going on?" to the 90s series fans. less of course its all just me and none of the other fans of the 90s series find the current one to be aggravating.

It seems after looking more into the history and such that story wise the movie was more Kech then Blaze yet they used Blaze. Maybe that's why I liked the movie so much is cause I don't know the history. Either would be fine with me, they both sound really cool from what I've read online. What are some good TPB to pick up to learn more about the Rider?

Seconded. It's time that Marvel remember which Ghost Rider have been one of the most popular characters in the early 90's. Nothing against Blaze though.

As for Ghost Rider Trades:

I would recommend Essential Ghost Rider Vol. 1 + 2 with the earlier Blaze adventures (in b & w). I'm sure that there will be a Vol. 3 in the future, too. Then they would have reprinted the entire first series. You could continue then with Ghost Rider: Resurrected TPB which contained the first seven isssues of the second Ghost Rider series with GR host Dan Ketch. Art Team is the current GR team of Javier Saltares & Mark Texeira which still being my favourites.

From what I have read, misc. isues here and there and movie I think he has potentail to really shake up the UMU. Besides the stories the tell are all ready a little darker so he would fit nicely.

they should have blaze as GR for a marvel max series, ketch for an ultimate series, and noble kale on his own without a host continuing from the 90s series in a marvel knights series. thats if there is a marvel knights line anymore.

I wouldnt mind if danny and noble Kale continued the storyline in a marvel Knights series like continuing after issue 94, but to see a Max series with Danny and the Ghost Rider like the early days before he had an origin would be awesome. they could re pull out zodiac and make a really really gruesome arc there.

No there shouldn't be for two reasons.

A) Ultimate Marvel sucks
B) The new Ghost Rider has already been retconned, so we already
more-or-less have an Ultimate version.

This thread is asking if the above should be done to Ghost Rider.

Before I start I just want to say that this is something I have been thinking about for a while.

I’ve never really a huge exposure to Ghost Rider when I was younger. Not that I didn’t like him growing up but the fact that when my Dad would get comics to read to me he just never picked up a lot of Ghost Rider. Maybe he thought it was to intense for me back then, I don’t know his reasoning but like I said I never had a lot of experience with Ghost Rider when I was younger. However when an issue would find its way into the bargain bundle it was a real treat. In my few glimpses into that world I got to see some of both Johnny and Dan. Even though my lack of exposure to him whenever a card would come out I’d trade my friends to get it. Something about him appealed to me.

Then I got sick as a teen. I was on Chemo from the time I was 16-20. I didn’t go out much. All the drugs they were pumping me full of just kept me down and under the weather. I was able to get the comic store a couple times of the month and I’d pick up an issue here and there of GR. Mostly though I got trades of Batman, X-men, and the Ultimate titles. I have to say those got me through many of days. Still my little secret obsession with GR remained. I don’t know why I just didn’t pick it up. It probably stemmed from the fact that my Dad didn’t pick them up when I was younger and I thought it might be because he didn’t want that in his house.

Jump to me being 23, now, and the movie came out. It was a blast. I have to say that after hearing everyone talking about how they either enjoyed it or hated it I wasn’t sure what to expect. I mean Daredevil was a little bit of a let down and then the directors cut came out. The DC of DD became my favorite movie and the same guy made GR. I put off getting the movie for a while but I finally broke down and got it. I was so glad I did. I understand it my not be every ones cup of tea but for a movie it was fully enjoyable for me.

Like I said I’d read a lot of the Ultimate titles. In those volumes of reading I had noticed that the Ghost Rider never showed up. A lot of obscure characters got revamps but not the Rider. So I thought it time that instead of hiding my fandome of the Rider I do something about it. I know it isn’t a comic but I’m working on an Ultimate take on Ghost Rider as a stories.

I just wanted to let you guys know. I’m going to need your moral support and reviews when I post stuff so I know that I’m doing something right. Writing takes a lot out of me. I love it but to pour so much time into something and then never hear what anyone thinks is a huge let down.

But as for giving your pointers and such...that'll be difficult, possibly impossible. Reason being, all Ultimate characters have totally different origins than their 616 counterparts. Coming up with that sort of thing will depend on you.

Thank you for being so supportive. I all ready got a major change to the character that I'm sure will upset a few people but will be something new and fresh. I just hope I do not get reemed for it.

If people get upset, tough cheese (for them, not you lol). You've clearly labeled it Ultimate Ghost Rider which means the character will be different

I think an Ultimates GR could be really cool myself, a lot of the Ultimates universe stuff I like better than the actual Marvel U. I mean the Ultimates are a hell of a lot better than the Avengers ever were.
