In my honest opinion, I think they should reboot the X-Men films, once Marvel gets their rights back from Fox and make it more faithful to the source material. Anyone can freely post their opinions, character casting, story ideas, fan art Etc. in this thread.

After Fox finishes up their last few X-Movies, then yeah, but it will be a long time from now.

Who would be the villain in this though? Would Magneto be in it? Would it be their first battle vs him? Or do we want X-men (2000) to be the first encounter the team has with Eric?

Who are the other candidates?

Apocalypse is too big of a villain, I think, for them to handle as new students.

Mr. Sinister? Maybe.

Bastion- He could be used, but then why wouldn't there be any mention of sentinels in the trilogy?

Same goes with Trask, mastermold and Project "Wide Awake". Because there is no mention of the sentinels and Hank McCoy wouldn't work with Trask in the government after Trask openly tried to kill them.

Juggernaut- would have been a great villain. Do him right as Cain Marko, Charles' half brother. Make him attack the mansion- and terrorize New York...but how do explain why he doesn't remember the X-men in X3: The Last Stand? ....although, he had to get locked up at somepoint to be in that convoy.

Blob could make a return from X-Men Origins: Wolverine and be in the brother hood...

Same goes for Gambit as a mysterious anti-hero who might be a villain, or in the brother hood originally.

Introduce Avalanche. Have him, Toad, Quicksilver, Mystique, Blob and Gambit make up the brotherhood.

Maybe use the Morlocks as the villains?

The Hellfire Club, didn't we see Sabastian Shaw in X-men (2000), and Emma Frost is in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I don't know how they would do it. Probably just the brotherhood like most of the good "X-men Evolution" Stories. If the film were handled like that show, we'd be in good shape.

i know it sounds wierd to hear, but as long as Fox keeps the rights i don't want a reboot. theyve already set up this world and, honestly, there's still a lot of pontential. theyre already doing First Class where they have the opportunity to fix their mishandling of Cyclops, Jean, and Storm, and really give us that "team/family" film that we still havent gotten. ive heard ideas of Magneto being a teacher at the first school and splintering off with students to form the Brotherhood- i like this. and what about Iceman, Kitty, and the rest? a direct sequel from Last Stand starring these kids plus bringing in Polaris, Havok, Jubilee, Siryn, any pick of New Mutants, has enormous potential with Sentinels, Bastion, Hellfire Club, Friends of Humanity, Purifiers, Legacy Virus as stories to continue as the second generation X-Men. and if they wanted to be ballsy, they could switch between continuities and release a First Class movie one year and X-Men 2.0 the next for like 4-5 years.

I think the original five X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel and Iceman) with the addition of their newest member Wolverine, battling Magneto and his Brotherhood. Through the film, they should show Boliver Trask creating The Sentinels (to setup the sequel). Beast, Angel and Iceman leave the team towards the end (so Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus can be introduced in the sequel).

How would that be different from the first movie?

I would like a reboot at some point. Obviously it would depend on the creative team and direction they want to go in. I'm really not very satisfied with what's been done up to this point.

It should start off with Magneto causing terrorist missile attacks in various parts of the globe. Professor Xavier tracks down Wolverine through Cerebro and goes to Department H headquarters to recruit him. The original X-Men and Wolverine get sent to battle Magneto but they are surprised that Magneto has his own team of mutants called the Brotherhood of Mutants. Once, the X-Men stop his diabolical plan, Magneto tells them that He sent Toad to set free Juggernaut from the Mansion's high security cell to put Xavier's life in doom. Cyclops make's the X-Men run to the Mansion (something which Wolverine thought was cowardly). Then Magneto and the rest of the Brotherhood arrive at the Mansion, an epic battle goes on, the Mansion gets badly damaged. In the end the X-Men manage to defeat the Brotherhood.

I'd love a reboot.

Another Origins movie seems like a waste to me. First Class sucks. I dont care about the young mutants going through teen angst in some kind of prequel to the existing franchaise.

It's time to start over.

I would have them college age, not really teenagers. I do think it's useful to have the original 5 students start out younger and not like 30 years old like in X1. That way we can see the leaders grow more over a series of movies, and watch them face off against increasing threats. I like the idea of 3 movies taking place over a span of 10 years of continuity with much happening over that time, rather than 3 movies which only cover 3 years of continuity. For me, the current franchise lacks depth. You don't get the sense the X-Men have done much but fight Magneto, or basically what's been shown. Not only do I want them to do more in the movies, but I want to get the sense they've had to contend with a lot between what we see in the movies.

A lot of that already happened in 3 existing movies already. How would the tone be different then from the previous movies, if you are going to make a reboot you have justify it. You haven't offered anything different enough to justify a reboot.

a reboot will be hard because lets be honest the casting in x men franchise was near perfect except maybe rogue or if you wanted a more youthful looking magneto

Here's another story idea that I came up with, that is much different than my previous idea.

Xavier sends the original five X-Men to stop Boliver Trask and the Sentinels. Meanwhile, Xavier tracks down the mutants Wolverine and Storm. While, the original X-Men are still battling the Sentinels, Master Mold stops taking orders from Trask and murders him. Xavier loses psychic contact with original X-Men, fearing that their life is in doom, He sends Wolverine and Storm to aid them.

I believe Fox is already rebooting with X men : First Class :csad:

X-Men: First Class will most probably be in continuity with the first three X-Men films (so, it's not exactly a reboot).

Exactly.

Angel and Iceman won't be in the movie.

Donner confirmed Cyclops, Jean and Beast - and obviously Xavier.

Emma will most probably also be in the film, and Gambit too.

*What we really don't know is who the villain is going to be.

My money's on Sinister.

my answer is no - keep what happend happend but try and make up for the mistakes they made and continue to do

I don't know. I would be one of the first to say that Fox has screwed the pooch, but I would like it more if Marvel got the rights back but still kept the actors who played the roles. You know, have it be in the same continuity but still do their own thing with it. Because I'm still holding out for another straight up X-Men film in this series but done with respect and intelligence and not just done for quick cash.

I just love X-Men 1 and 2. I really wish we all got the film we wanted when the credits rolled on X2. We wouldn't be having this conversation.

I'd love a reboot of this franchise. Because i just feel like the series wasnt really true for the comics and of course the fans. And Famke who played Jean also expressed how she was upset with how the movies were doing. And im sure she wasnt the only one with those feelings. Just the only one who had the guts to stand up to Fox and say it. But seriously i felt like they didnt know what they were doing with the series. WAY too many little sub plots that were pointless. Im pretty sure X-Men fans deserve a trilogy thats true to the comics. Lets make it happen.

I really, really hope not. And I say this as a huge Gambit fan. First Class is a shameless money grab; it's bound to be done with no concern for quality and I don't want to see Gambit shoe-horned into a Twilight-esque teen-angst crapfest.

I would reboot it with the original 5 and Xavier. Along the road something happens that causes tension in the team, and have either beast, or Iceman to leave. Then they meet wolverine and several other mutants to join them, creating a bigger team (beast or Iceman comes back), defeats the enemy and thus instilling faith in the team and helps feel more ready for the future.

Yes...perfect. It should be from the perspective of Xavier. Like how we are the titans was denzel as the main character and his team as his support. Perfect recipy for an excellent team based theme movie. X men is the initial story of CHARLES XAVIER and his team of teenagers growing up in a world of prejudice, not WOLVERINE featuring the other guys!!!!!! How annoying...ANNOYING!!!!! The new show is ****ing ******ed. Wolverine and the X men???? get outta here with that crap!!!!

This definately needs a reboot. Definately. I'll miss Jackman cause I did like the original cast, but the movies just didn't do X men full justice. Entertaining movies, but just not X MEN!!!!!

X men 1 & 2 were also not true to Schit!!!! good movies, but horrible adaptations. WHat happened to yureko being wolverine's ex????? Mystique being Night Crawlers mother? Cyclops being RELEVANT? Sabre tooth not being laughable? Storm actually being from Kenya and portraying that in her accent and character? Ice man not being a kid inlove with kid rogue? Gambit actually existing as a character and not just a name on a pc monitor? etc...etc... Things that could have been stuck to, but weren't.

Yea this needs a REVAMP BIG TIME!!!!! Lord of the rings budget and each movie should be that Epic. If Lord Of The Rings can do it...why not X men???? It has a universe just as huge and as compelling if not MORE!
