Yes he should. This is not like Venom because up until the footage of him leaked there was a good number of people convinced Venom was not in Spiderman 3. Everyone knows that Joker is in this movie.

Just use the final scene of Batman Begins as the teaser trailer, but shot from different angles.

We can hear the laugh at the end. I like that it ties with Begins movie.

i say yes, but only very very briefly or a shadow / shot from behind.

I don't think there should be any footage from the new movie. Maybe just a laugh, and then the bat symbol. If that's not a teaser, I don't know what is.... just a quick 20 seconds.

Maybe if they did another teaser, do the last scene from ''Begins''.

I say go the whole hog and dedicate the movie to the sick son of a melon farmer.

Yes, after the title is shown and everyone thinks its all over, i wanan see a quick, i conic pose of him laughing. it needs to be quick yet still instantly recognizable to get the point that "the jokers in it!?" across.

That's cheap and it barely whets the appetite.

We have different appetites then .

As long as I hear The Joker laugh ill be happy, I mostly wanna hear how Ledger does the laugh.

How about the teaser being a single shot of a shadowy figure in a doorway playing with a deck of cards while Batman and Gordon talk as the voiceover, the camera draws closer and then the figure steps out into the light ala Orson welles in the third man and the title comes up

I have no opinion on this yet.

I do like Boom's idea:

However I think if they did that, they would HAVE to put something else into the trailer, if only a quick shot, that established Joker's presence. I think in that situation that they should TEASE the Joker - that is, show him, but not quite show him. Or something.

But I'm not sure. :(

I say no at least not a full on shot of him . I want to be somewhat suprised on opening night .I hope they don't show too much of him . Like some have posted a laugh or his profile shadowed will be enough for me.

That works too. As long as we see something new.

Whatever route they take it would be marketing suicide to not include a lot of The Joker in the trailers IMO,no way do they leave him as a surprise on opening night

I feel that it's very different to the Venom situation as for starters there are 2 other prominent villains in SM3 plus the reason he has been held off trailers is most likely CGI based but the biggest factor is that at the end of the day an expensive blockbuster movies goal is to make big BO and Venom while a cult fav with the fanboys is not that big of a deal with the general public but the Joker is the Mother****ing king of comic villains, his presence in the marketing is essential

Teaser Trailer: End it with the Joker, in the shadows and just his laugh.

Trailer: Actually show the Joker.

I want to see The Joker for the reason that although i dont find Heath Ledger to be a bad actor, Im just not completly sold on him as The Joker. I want to see the look and attitude Nolan is going for with Batman's greatest foe.

The sooner we get to see Heath as Joker, the better. I know there's still a whole bit of cautious optimism going around, and just a shot, or a moment of Joker being absolutely sadistic would wash all these fears away imo.

A smile just isn't enough for me. At the very least, give us the laugh.

Yes.

In fact, I think they should show him completely nude.

That way everyone would look away, and the Joker would go unspoiled but no one could complain about Nolan holding back.

I think I'm basically with Norm on this one:

Teaser - Tease us.

Trailer - Show Joker.

Do not show Joker in the teaser, in the trailer or in the posters. Not in plain sight at least.

Indeed.

I also think that Vanessa Lane should play Catwoman, and the same theory should be applied to her.

Seeing as he's supposed to be the main villain, it would be rather stupid and disappointing not to show him.

Besides, if they get him right, it will only make audiences anticipate the movie even more. Word will spread on how great he seems.

That can only be a good thing for the movie.

Venom is not the main villain in Spider-Man 3. Sandman is. Hence, why Venom did not need to be shown.

His role is not a big one.
