Should we speak ill of the dead?

People speak ill of the dead quite often. When was the last time you heard anything nice said about Hitler?

I agree. In fact, if there's one thing that annoys me, it's "posthumous fans." If you had nothing nice to say about them while they were alive, don't start reaching for positive qualities now that they're dead.

When you talk about the dead,you tend to talk about their life accomplishments or their personal impact. If they sucked or were ****heads, theres no reason to make them seem good, but i do agree that tact should be involved during mourning periods, and 9times out of 10 you probably shouldnt be happy when an a-hole dies.

i decided to leave a margin of error just in case. For Hitler types or the ones who deserve death row(but i guess thats a whole different debate).

Happy was prolly a poor choice of word as well.

Even the truly evil should be mourned, not because we miss them, but that they did not use their life productively.

Evil is subjective, as is the inherent productivity of an individuals life and works.

I have felt a sense of joy and relief at the death of someone. Happy and relief because I can put my mind at ease knowing that he's not able to harm anyone anymore and finally be able to say, "May he rot in Hell".

I shall not waste my grief and sorrow on those whom I feel not deserving of it.

Well, if we shouldn't speak ill of the dead, then we should shut down The Darwin Awards' website.

Seriously, there was a guy I went to school with, he was a total jerk to just about everyone, yet somehow was very popular. He and his cousin got them selves killed while driving drunk. I did a little happy dance. I felt now, they can't do anymore damage to anyone.
