Siege Ends The Avengers

All the splintered, post-Disassembled Avengers series end and are replaced by one series simply titled Avengers. Seems pretty obvious. I'm looking forward to what role the big three play going forward after Siege, though. The event itself will catapult them to pretty huge status within the Marvel universe, plus they've all got movies coming up, so that's more incentive for Marvel to keep them up in the spotlight, plus they're the logical linchpin for the whole Age of Heroes status quo, being the central trio of the central team of heroes within the MU.

Also: FINALLY, Clor vs. Thor! That's gonna be LEGEN--wait for it...

...DARY! :awesome:

Aside from the general excitement of all this, I'm really curious which artist Marvel will pair with Bendis (assuming he still writes Avengers) with. Who do you go with? Stay with Stuart or go with a superstar like Hitch/Romita Jr/McNiven/Coipel?

Whoever it is, I'm sure it'll be a big name. New Avengers got superstar artists because Marvel was promoting it as the central comic to the Marvel universe. If the entire Avengers franchise is being shut down to relaunch with one comic, that's gonna become the central comic and you better believe Marvel's gonna promote the hell out of it with the biggest names they can find.

Copiel would be nice but i just cant see it being on time. Same with Mcniven, and Hitch is DC now. So I wouldn't know who to put on there.

With all the hoopla regarding Cap/Thor/Iron Man, I wonder if they'll keep that trinity going in this newly formed Avengers? I remember feeling slightly cheated when we got so few scenes with the three during Secret Invasion which also promoted the "big three" getting back together (Not with Steve but you know what I mean..) and I hope it's not another case of that.

and with THAT being said, will Marvel go even further with "JLA-izing" the Avengers by sticking with the big guns (Spidey/Wolverine/Cap/Thor/Iron Man etc)? Or go with a few odd choices and give New Avengers alumnists (Cage/Spider-Woman etc) the boot?

So many questions.

An ideal unified Avengers team for me would be Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Pym, Hawkeye, the Vision, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Ares, and maybe Luke Cage. That pulls together representatives from just about every corner of Avengersdom, both pre- and post-Disassembled.

And I left Wolverine out because he's a goddamned X-Man, not an Avenger, so don't ask. :argh:

Wolverine is going to be in the consolidated Avengers title, best believe it. Because he 38 ongoings, 19 one shots ever month, and appearances in X-Men is simply just not enough. :o

Hopefully Bendis doesn't write the one title. Give it to Slott.

I'd say Bendis' writing the consolidated Avengers is even more of a sure bet than Wolverine's being on the roster. The absolute only way I see him not being on it is if he declares that Avengers: Disassembled to Siege is his "Avengers era" and he'll never touch the characters again... unless the next writer doesn't sell as well and Marvel pays him a truckload to come back. But that seems unlikely to me.

I thought this story was going to break closer to the end of SIEGE. Bendis is no doubt writing this, that's too bad for as Slott his Mighty Avengers is the best written book of the three. I'd like to see them go back to original numbering for Avengers but a new #1 has been Marvel's sales ploy since #1's sell better. Maybe it'll have a shot at the coveted sales record set by X-Men #1 back in 1991.

I want to see Deodato slide from Dark Avenger right into the new Avengers book. My second pick is Ed McGuinness.

The thing that caught my eye was a one shot called Captain America: Who Won't Wield The Shield. Right here @ http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2010/01/15/spoilers-for-marvels-april-2010-books/

Well, we're just getting the solicitations for all the endings now. Siege #2 will be out before we get the solicitations for May, when whatever new Avengers thing is coming afterward starts. All we know for sure right now is that the current Avengers comics are all ending in April.

Im just glad we will be getting back to one main Avengers team. I didnt see the point of having two "good" avengers teams. I like the idea of the dark avengers, they were pretty cool foils.

The Heroic Age status quo doesn't seem to support the idea of a team of villains who cheated their way to the top, though.

Dark Avengers are really cool, but with "The Age of Heroes" coming up, it'll be tough to keep a title like that going. Everyone looked past the fact that DA was just the T-Bolts idea being rehashed, including me.

Wouldn't they try to sync up this consolidated Avengers title with the upcoming movie? In this case, wouldn't that mean dropping Wolverine & Spider-Man? Both are well known and if they are not in the movie wouldn't that cause "confusion" to new fans the film would (hopefully) generate?

Logan never belonged in the Avengers anyway. Spidey's membership should be sporadic at best.

Wouldn't they try to sync up this consolidated Avengers title with the upcoming movie?
Doubtful. That movie is three years away; any lineup introduced now will change a lot sooner than that anyway, and Spider-Man and Wolverine on the team has been very profitable. I would especially bet on Spider-Man staying, since Bendis is a fan of the character but has said in the past he's not interested in writing ASM full-time.

Regarding what the future lineup of a single book will look like, I would bet on it being mainly drawn from the NA lineup plus the Big Three (and possibly Sentry or Ares, depending on how Siege shakes down). I can't see Bendis wanting to use anybody from the Mighty Avengers.

Marvel isn't doing a LOST where at the end of Siege a bomb goes off and everyones memory gets whipped clean, are they?

Ok, wait... Who's Clor...???

Edit:
Scratch that... Wikipedia, it's a beautiful thing. :woot:

I gotta say i'm very proud of marvel. For once, they're showing some restraint and not milking the hell out of a popular franchise with a million books. One core Avengers book would be great. I hope Deodato's drawing it, yeah i know, his style is a little "dark" for a hero book but his art is so.damn.good! Plus he delivers on time! Deaodato used to draw Amazing Spiderman, i think he can pull off an Avengers book.

I assume it'll be a large over all roster hopefully they use the infinite avengers mansion unless that ends up getting destroyed by Ultron in the MA arc, if it doesn't and thy\ey don't use it they're wasting a good idea.
