Silver Surfer movie Anyone?

I think it would be cool if they made a Silver Surfer movie.. Do an origin and him coming to earth.. then totally forget about the F4.. Just have Alica Masters.. have him learn about how humanity is really trying to get along with each other and how there are always bad people or something like that.. then bam make him fight Galactus.. a full out power cosmic battle.. have the surfer die.. but his death will persuade Galactus to leave earth.. then have him be resurected by the power cosmic in the very end.. it'd be better than X-3.

I would rather see a quality, epic SS film than one connected to an FF film.

Well he doesn't have to die... if they did a stand-alone SS movie I'd want to see a sequel with Thanos or Possibly Mesphisto.. if you put him with the Fantastic Four your gonna get a hallow and fake evil Surfer.. and based on the first F4 movie I'll bet you they'll go with the Ultimate Extinction Surfers, the horrible robot killing machines.. I'd rather see Norrin Rad.

I hear ya. I think if the story is done along the lines of the cartoon (the most under-rated Marvel cartoon in my opinion) it will be great. It would be Marvel's Star Wars.

if the movie was done truely right.. origin and all. it would be sorta like a Marvel Star Wars.. I could see them atleast doing a Silver Surfer Trillogy, the first movie would be like the first 3 Episode of the Cartoon with Galactus being the enemy. the second one could be sorta like Silver Surfer Vol.2 #1-#2 minus the F4 and it would introduce Mesphisto and would feature the Silver Surfer going against him. and then the next one could sorta be based on the Annihilation series.

As someone else said on these boards..Silver Surfer is too good a character for Tim Story. The FF can be cornball at times, so I can cut Story some slack on that, but I have a hard time seeing him giving the Surfer the credit he deserves.

The Surfer is about emotion not just strength.. you feel his pain.. His stories are about redemptions and the thing one man would do to save the people and more importantly the woman he loves.. The Surfer is also about slavery and what happens when you break away from your master, when servant decides to become free...

I highly doubt Mr. Story is able to deliever that.. Exsp. if he can't even get a simple character like Doom right..

I always fealt thatd he would be alot stronger as a solo movie and made it into a trilogy, in fact I brought my ideas on over to the hype boards heres what I had said....

So Silver Surfer and Galactus get the screw jobby getting lumped in with this garbage instead of getting theyre own franchise which is a shame. It would be so easy to do a Silver Surfer trilogy...heres what my idea was.....

Movie one: The origin. You have all the origin stuff and then the coming to earth. You don't need the F.F. i nit at all just have him meet a blind girl and go fight Galactus. You keep all the Silver Surfer bits from that story. And of course he would be trapped on earth.

Movie two: Silver Surfer on earth. This takes its lead from the Stan Lee /Beuscema run of books where he is on earth and trying to help people yet is scorned and rejected so the question becomes "why did I help them?" in the end he frees himself from his captivity on earth.

Movie 3: Silver Surfer in space looking for Galactus who in fact is dying. Silver Surfer wants his humanity back and we get that amazing issue where he is drowned in the blood of the people he has helped kill.

Thats as far as I got on the third one...there needs to be another conflict in the thrid but couldnt think of anything other than the "I am dying" bit. I dunno. But this trilogy would give us the best bits of Silver Surfer storys."


I was then trashed by all the "fans" of the fantastic four who love tim story and his crappy movies.

If the Surfer generates interest from FF2, and everyone wants to know "What's his story?", it may happen. I think his 'universe of worlds & characters' would be too high concept for the studio fish-heads to launch him on Joe public as a stand alone movie. Better to incorporate him with a franchise that is established, has a big Marvel name, and a true comic connection. I only hope FF2 works, and Tim Story doesn't blow it too badly :-(

A Silver Surfer film using the Storyline of the Infinity Gauntlet would be a buzz, but man...... the budget

As a movie property, "The Silver Surfer" has been in development at 20th Century Fox nearly as long as the 'Fantastic Four' was before that movie was eventually made, and with the success of that movie, Fox apparently saw the opportunity to finally pave the way for the Surfer movie to be made, by using the "Coming of Galactus" storyline in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

The future of this solo movie for the Silver Surfer, then depends very much upon the success of that previous movie. If the second 'Fantastic Four' movie is as well received by the public at large as the first one was, and people take to the Silver Surfer character the way 1960s comic book fans did, then I would say the likelihood of him getting this solo movie made someday is very strong.

On the other hand, if things go poorly, this beloved character could be interpreted (whether by the filmmakers, or the public at large) incorrectly, and the idea of a "Silver Surfer" solo movie could someday in the future be perceived as a joke. My gut feeling, however, is that this won't be the case.

I have read two separate drafts of Silver Surfer: the first one was penned by John Turman and it was really really good; the other one was Andrew Kevin Walker script but the vast majority of the draft was utter abysmal crap...

I have been of the opinion in comics as I will be in a film idea. SS is a great supporting character and makes for an interesting and grand scale story element but as a stand alone character I find him, like Thor to be quite boring.

Just think about it.
The FF2 will make or break a SS movie.
So by saying its ruining the character may not be true.
This movie could in the end give us the stand alone SS movie we want.
Let's just wait to see how he is handled before we jump to any conclusions.

I will be very honest with you guys but before the TEASER i thought F4:ROTSS won't be successful.

But now i have this good feeling that it will succeed and we will get a solo silver surfer movie.
