Simon Bisley inspired Batman (Tattoo)

WOW, that's amazing. I must admit, I think when people simpl have the cartoon character, etc, simply line-drawn onto their body that it can look at little tacky, but that looks like a work of art!

Where is it, may I ask? It looks like your back or shoulder blade but I'm not sure...

Thanks, I appreciate the comment.

I know its gratuitous to put it out there as I have, but I must admit--after enduring several hours of pain and spending $$$ - - I wanted my fellow Bat-fans to check it out and get feedback (positive or negative).

For me, I wanted an artistic piece and no campy rendering (although I have no problem with someone else going that direction). The guy I got is an artist first who happens to tattoo (17 or so years) who understands light and shading. Bisley's colors are muted and as such, we decided black, grey shading worked best to ensure stability.

I wanted to catch the dark and contemplative elements of the character with some personal symbolism thrown in for good measure. I was torn between this and the Hush renderings of Lee. There is some influence of Lee on this piece, but it is definitely overtly Bisley.

Bisley's original piece:

I got the tat on the upper part of my back between the spine, mid-part of back and shoulder. It is about 8 x 8. I went as small as I could, any smaller would not have brought out the details.

Probably more than you (or anyone else) wanted to know!!!.

Great tattoo, amazingly artistic!
If I was going to have a tattoo, I would like to make something like this.

thats badass... Batman Hush is one of the coolest Batman comic books.....
