THIS IS THE LATEST INTERVIEW FRANK MILLER HAS GIVEN ON SIN CITY2!_________________________________________________________________

Marv died in "Sin City" — but that doesn't mean Mickey Rourke won't be back for the sequel.

Ditto for Dwight (Clive Owen), Shellie (Brittany Murphy), Nancy (Jessica Alba), Manute (Michael Clarke Duncan), Gail (Rosario Dawson) and the rest of the Old Town gang.

That's because "Sin City" is the "Pulp Fiction" of comic-book adaptations — since the interlinking stories aren't linear, when it comes time for the next installment in theaters, you'll get a prequel and a sequel at the same time.

"It jumps around a bit," writer/co-director Frank Miller said, "but mostly it's one story, incorporating some short stories that weave in and out of that."

Miller, who wrote and illustrated the hard-boiled graphic-novel series the films are based on, said he is "well in progress" on the screenplay for "Sin City 2" and anticipates that he and co-director Robert Rodriguez should be shooting as early as June in Austin, Texas.

The first "Sin City" took its stories from the first, third and fourth books — "The Hard Goodbye," "The Big Fat Kill" and "That Yellow Bastard." This next one will jump back in the sequence and derive most of its story from the second book, "A Dame to Kill For." But even though it's the second book, the action is set before book one, developing Dwight's past, loves, lusts and alliances.

Before Marv sleeps with Goldie, before Detective Hartigan finds skinny little Nancy all grown up and dancing at a strip joint, Dwight has a love affair with Ava, who leaves him to marry someone wealthy. Four years later, Ava's back, claiming the marriage is no good, and asking Dwight to help her out. This being "Sin City," you know there's more to the story than that.

Miller is also toying with incorporating "Blue Eyes," a short story that introduces the assassin Delia. The chain of events helps set up "The Hard Goodbye" and "The Big Fat Kill" in the original film, but what about what happens next? Miller is also writing a new story that'll explore what happens to Nancy after Hartigan's suicide. "Yeah, there will be surprises, but they wouldn't be surprises if I told you, would they?" Miller said.

The stories are also going to be as graphic as the first "Sin City" film — graphic in violence as well as style, showcasing the fully digital live action that made the film one of the most faithful comic adaptations yet to hit the screen. "My drawings were up on a special monitor, where they would move the camera to match my compositions," Miller explained.

That's what made him sign on for a sequel, due in 2007, as well as more to follow (see " 'Sin City' Co-Directors Working On Sequels, Eyeing A Tarantino Replacement").

ye I posted all the relevant information from that article in the FAQ

There is another rumor of Miller writing a story about Jackie Boy's days as a hero cop and his fall to corruption.

JD has* to be Wallace! That's my 2nd favorite story of all times in the Sin City franchise!

I think jared leto, looks more like wallace, although I would prefer to see depp

Yeah.

You must not know how fast Rodriguez works.

He released 2 movies in '03 and '05.

Tonight at an exclusive sneak peek screening of the new movie 300 based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, iF MAGAZINE got the goods on the rumored demise of SIN CITY 2. When asked if the sequel to the movie he co-directed with Robert Rodriguez was still a go Miller explained:

“The script is almost completed, and we’re just waiting for everyone’s schedules to clear up.” He also added that the comic book is still being written at the same time as the screenplay.

So, there you have it SIN CITY fans, straight from the mouth of the creator himself. The sequel is on and it’s just a matter of time before they get a production schedule that will accommodate all involved.

Miller Talks Sin City 2

Frank Miller, who wrote and co-directed Sin City based on his graphic novels of the same name, told SCI FI Wire that he plans to co-direct the upcoming sequel, Sin City 2, with Robert Rodriguez, despite rumors to the contrary. "Yes and yes," he said in an interview following a preview screening of footage of 300, another upcoming film based on his work.

"We have all kinds of technical things we want to do, but there's a major story called A Dame to Kill for [which was, fittingly, the second Sin City story and is a prequel of sorts to The Hard Goodbye] that we're going to adapt," Miller said. "That'll include a new femme fatale and other characters." Rodriguez has reportedly spoken with Angelina Jolie about playing Ava, ex-lover of Clive Owen's Dwight.

"There are a number of short stories that will be interlaced between them and a brand new story that I'm just developing right now featuring Nancy Callahan [Jessica Alba] and her reaction to the death of John Hartigan [played in the first film by Bruce Willis, who likely won't appear in the sequel]," Miller added. Jolie on Playing Ava in Sin City 2

It was reported earlier this year that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller were interested in Angelina Jolie playing a lead role in the sequel to Sin City. Jolie was pregnant at the time, however, which would push back production, and Rodriguez instead started filming "Grindhouse" with Quentin Tarantino. ComingSoon.net/SuperheroHype.com caught up with "The Good Shepherd" star to ask whether she is still up for playing the role of Ava in the anticipated second film.

"We talked about it and I read the comic," Jolie told us. "I don't think the film is being made at this moment. When it's actually going to be made I'm sure we'll talk about it.

"It was a funny thing, because the idea came to me when I was pregnant," she added. "So it was this idea... I've been Clover (in 'The Good Shepherd'), depressed and quiet, and then I was feeling very maternal, pregnant. It was this idea of this sexy, violent and loud [character]... I thought maybe after I'm pregnant it would be nice to do."

It sounds like Rodriguez and Miller have their Ava if everything works out. A start date for Sin City 2 has not been announced.

In the graphic novel, Ava Lord is the dame to kill for. She is an ex-lover of Dwight McCarthy (Clive Owen) who manipulates men through her good looks and her supposed innocence.

Ok, in an Italian industry magazine it's been announced that the local release date for "Sin City 2" will be November 9th.

It just keeps moving back. Before you know it, it'll be in '08.

That comment I made is outdated now. The movie is coming out in '07 (thank goodness).

Well yeah but still she held down the production of the movie. It could've been done and made last year, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they had to wait on their asses for her big-lipped self. Angelina Jolie is a hottie but sometimes she can be a real pain.
