Daredevil Since Punisher is back with Marvel Studios....

Could he possibly show up in a "Daredevil" episode or season? After all, the two have fought each other and Bullseye in the comics, and I feel he deserves another chance at either his own series or another movie.

What do you guys think?

I've been reading the Frank Miller run of Daredevil right now and the comic involving the PCP storyline and the Punisher is quite good (although there's at least one moment that borders on a Saturday morning special). That being said, I feel like the Punisher needs his backstory told himself before he appears elsewhere (I also feel like Daredevil has too much to squeeze into thirteen episodes as is).

However, a Phase 2 of Netflix shows (Daredevil Season 2, Elektra, etc.) could give Punisher 13 episodes. I'm still assuming the character can translate to live-action even though the movies have been relatively underwhelming thus far.

I'd like a Netflix/Marvel Max series with Punisher, maybe one with Blade too where sex and violence wouldn't be off the table, the Punisher and to a lesser extent Blade cannot imho be done justice in a series that will go out at 8pm and will have kids as part of it's audience.

Well, I do think they have this thing with Netflix in part to push the maturity content a little bit. How far is hard to say, but I would think they plan to go beyond what they can do in the movies even. At the same time, I'm sure some kids want to watch it, so it's hard to say.

I love their dynamic too but I don't see how the comparison to Batman and Superman makes any sense

I'd love to see the Punisher guest star. Heck he could also guest star in Luke Cage's show, or Jessica Jones's show, etc. Basically be a recurring presence that the heroes have to contend with. A "wild card" if you will. Then if Marvel wants to do more Netflix shows, Punisher could get his own. Besides, Frank and Matt's interactions/relationship has always been interesting and seeing it play out in live-action could be really fun.

^ I really like that idea and I'm glad this thread is catching on. I think it's too good of an idea to not pass up, but my only worry for these proposed Netflix shows is I don't want to see Daredevil's series be anything but a TV-14 rating and Punisher is a character you need to really push the boundaries of the TV-14 or do a very adult, gritty, dark, and violent TV-MA series. I would love to see Thomas Jane back but it probably won't happen, but since "Almost Human" got cancelled by Fox, to me Judge Dredd himself Karl Urban would be the best go-to guy to punish some criminals alongside ol' horn head.

Plus, I REALLY want to see a brutal Daredevil vs. Bullseye and Punisher vs. Bullseye vs. Daredevil fight.

That's what Netflix is for. They can get away with a lot more mature stuff there than if the shows were on mainstream channels.

Well it remains to be seen if Marvel really wants to take these shows in a more mature direction - just because they can doesn't necessarily mean they will. Even with Queseda's recent comments floating around, it didn't indicate whether the content would be more adult-oriented.

It wouldn't shock me to see these Netflix series straddle the same line as the MCU movies. TV-14 is probably where we'll see all of these shows, but hey, I could be wrong.

A bit of a reach on my part. Those are just always the first two duos that come to mind. But I guess you could compare Daredevil's by-the-books attitude to Supes and Punisher to Batman? I dunno. Whatever, I just HAVE to see them on screen together for a season long arc or at least a mini one. I've always liked that one storyline where Punisher killed the Marvel Universe and it flashed back to when he was a kid he protected Matt from some bullies. I want them to use that idea to already give them an established history.

I don't see how you do a Jessica Jones show without being more mature and dark than the rest of the Marvel universe. I'm not saying explicit sex or an obscene amount of gore, but I think a heavy PG-13 that borders on R because of violence would not be shocking.

I don't see Frank being used for several years, at the earliest.. I think Marvel's going to sit on him indefinitely. By default, he's considered a "rated R" character, and Marvel is still very much into promoting PG-13 movies, and even now with the Marvel Knights shows, I suspect they will be PG-13 as well.

Castle would do better being introduced in something like this; as opposed to them trying to make him a solo star, right out the gate. he existed in the Marvel Universe as an antagonist for a long time. he needs a more straight-arrow hero to play off of (imo).

I think the line may be, how much graphic violence do you actually show? Because it's still possible to make a great show that uses brutality in a way that isn't overly explicit... 24 comes to mind, as the Jack Bauer character has some pretty ruthless moments and that show was never TV-MA if I recall correctly.

Lots of F-bombs, excessive blood & gore is generally what pushes it over the top, and I don't think you absolutely need any of those things to make any of these series work. Sure, sometimes the content will push the boundary but I don't think the visuals have to go all the way.
