I was never a fan of Mariah Carey, but hell, that girl can sing the lights out. At best, Ariana is like one of those European techno-pop stars from the 1990s: she has the right look, an okay voice, an okay dancer and has a couple of catchy songs. But her career will be nothing like Mariah's, and if she keeps doing **** like this she won't even have that for much longer.

Lady Gaga is more like a female drag queen than a singing stripper. And she will always have a career because of her gay following (look at Cher); even if she releases an album of homophobic hate-fuelled Aryan death metal the boys will buy it like crack.

The other "singers" in the discussion pretty much make their living being the pretty girl that perverts want to **** and that teenage girls want to be. Doing nasty stuff diminishes that image; Bieber can go to jail and pee in a bucket because it makes him "edgy"; Katy Perry does that and it's considered gross.

I may be no fan of Britney or Katy Perry, but I can't even picture them doing what Ariana Grande did. Katy Perry, despite my HATE for her "music," doesn't strike me as a person who would do something like what Grande did. I remember during the last college football season, Katy Perry was watching a game at some small bar and drinking with everyone (and just being a fun person all around). She'd probably be in a bakery trying all kinds of foods and possibly sharing with other people. And while Britney has been notorious tabloid fodder, she just strikes me as a person who has struggles with herself rather than someone who just likes to be hateful (if that makes any sense).

I would definitely compare Grande to the likes of Bieber or Miley in terms of grossness.

She's got the pipes for jazz, so I'm glad she's focusing on her natural talents right now.

She's also engaged, and just plain living her life right now. Based on what I've seen on social media, Lady Gaga just seems to be genuinely happy, which is cool.

Also, earlier this year, she did an awesome Sound of Music tribute at the Oscars. I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't yet. She also did a Stevie Wonder tribute earlier this year that was fan-freaking-tastic. Like I said, Lady Gaga seems to be focusing on being an actual "singer" instead of a pop star right now. Yup, yup. I've always enjoyed her pop music as more of a guilty pleasure thing, but I am so glad she's doing jazz right now. I've wanted her to do an acoustic or jazz album since 2009, so I'm thrilled.
