Skaar: Son of Hulk by Greg Pak and Ron Garney

I can't stomach those. The mere thought of their chalky quality makes me gag.

No, it's hot. LLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWLLLZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!! :D  :D  :D

Man, I'm hungry. :(

Wendy's is definitely the best of the fast food crowd. I was wondering what to eat for lunch today, coincidentally. You guys just answered my question.

What podcast was Garney on?

I can excuse your ignorance of In'n'Out Burger but come on, no love for Jack in the Box?

I thought there would be more substance to the story than just literally setting people up like dominos for the Hulk to knock down. And it's not like we didn't already know the Hulk would kick all their asses. There was no tension or anything. It was one big exercise in futility.

As someone else said, that you expected anything different was your own fault, not WWH's.

No, it's not. Do you go into Michael Bay movies expecting substance? I don't. I also don't listen to David Bowie and expect gangsta rap. You have to judge things accordingly.

Maybe if I'd read WWH before Planet Hulk I would've expected less. But Pak delivered a really good story with PH, so, silly my, I went into WWH expecting fights, yes, but also a good story at the core of it. Oh well. Romita's art was pretty.

I thought his WWH story in the mini AND the regular book was good. The mini gave the masses their brainless action and the regular book focused more on character driven stories. Pretty even handed, to me.

Anyway getting back on topic - seriously Corp, what've you got against Jack in the Box?

I mean come on, they've got Ciabatta burgers and an all-day breakfast menu! What's not to love?

Jack in the Box doesn't exist where I live. I've never once even seen a Jack in the Box, let alone eaten at one.

I liked the Incredible Hulk tie-ins. That doesn't really excuse the WWH mini from having almost no actual story, though.

Wow. :csad:

You and Ego both have my sympathies.

Um...The Hulk came back, gave everyone an ultimatum, the heroes banded together and got pwned one by one, the Sentry went ape****, and the Hulk saved everyone. That's a story.

A shallow, stupid one.

Anyway, who cares? You liked it, I didn't. It's over and thus no longer relevant.

Word. I'm looking forward to this Son of Hulk thing. Even if Garney thinks it's ******ed. :)

Only initially. Once he learned it was spelled "Skaar," it all fell into place for him. :)

I know, I just like thinking that Garney thinks things are ******ed.

I wonder what was so special about the spelling "Skaar" that convinced him.

I don't really care for the book. seems like another bad sequel to WWH, mindless action with no substance.

Where the **** are people getting the idea that this is going to be more like WWH than Planet Hulk?

In fairness I will go ahead and say that yeah they totally could have done up an actually good and deep and emotionally complex story for WWH and compared to Planet Hulk the writing really did kind of nosedive (at minimum they could have cut like 75 percent of the endless, catechismic intonations of "they sent Hulk off planet and blew up his planet and he's FARKING ANGRY!!!") and if they had done all that WWH would have been a totally great event.

That sais I'll still say that for all its flaws it turned out to be at least a fairly okay event, and after the last couple years of so many utter-black-hole-of-awfulness total-****fest events like Civil War and House of M and Infinite Crisis, an event that actually made it up to fairly good was sort of a breath of fresh air.
