BvS Skepticism Regarding the Film - Part 4

What in particular? I have consistently defended the validity of this thread, while many others have repeatedly called for it to be closed. Some "dread" comments in here have been worthy of gentle mockery, but I can assure you I have tried to avoid oblique name-calling.

Don't mean to butt in, but I imagine The Batman is referring to stuff like this (I had to go farther back to find this than I'd like to admit, lol)

Take it easy. You are welcome to point out why the grumps in this thread are wrong, but you can't challenge their right to get together for a good sulk here. :cwink:

You are absolutely correct, hafizbat.

I wish Morrison was consulted or something...

In the end, I saw Superman not as a superhero or even a science fiction character, but as a story of Everyman. We’re all Superman in our own adventures. We have our own Fortresses of Solitude we retreat to, with our own special collections of valued stuff, our own super–pets, our own “Bottle Cities” that we feel guilty for neglecting. We have our own peers and rivals and bizarre emotional or moral tangles to deal with.

I felt I’d really grasped the concept when I saw him as Everyman, or rather as the dreamself of Everyman. That “S” is the radiant emblem of divinity we reveal when we rip off our stuffy shirts, our social masks, our neuroses, our constructed selves, and become who we truly are.

Batman is obviously much cooler, but that’s because he’s a very energetic and adolescent fantasy character: a handsome billionaire playboy in black leather with a butler at this beck and call, better cars and gadgetry than James Bond, a horde of fetish femme fatales baying around his heels and no boss. That guy’s Superman day and night.

Superman grew up baling hay on a farm. He goes to work, for a boss, in an office. He pines after a hard–working gal. Only when he tears off his shirt does that heroic, ideal inner self come to life. That’s actually a much more adult fantasy than the one Batman’s peddling but it also makes Superman a little harder to sell. He’s much more of a working class superhero, which is why we ended the whole book with the image of a laboring Superman.

He’s Everyman operating on a sci–fi Paul Bunyan scale. His worries and emotional problems are the same as ours… except that when he falls out with his girlfriend, the world trembles.

The "Validation" thread is almost as ridiculous as when this was the "I feel nothing bud dread" thread.

I'm reminded of the split between Nolan fans and Nolan haters when I visit these threads. Same ****, different year.

Do other forums have segregated pro- and anti- threads like these?

Grant Morrison gets Superman. He's one of the few modern creators that do.

Too bad we won't see his Superman on the big screen.

I feel like he gets everyone. Like, he'd take the most obscure character and explain why they work.

Even though I didn't really like the All-Star DTV, I'm hoping they at least do one based on his Action Comics run. I'd even be fine with the New 52 suit if it meant having that fun Superman running around.

I was asking about other forums, not cesspools. :o

The first arc would be perfect, especially since they didnt do a Superman origin DTV.

I'd also add a little bit of Action Comics #0 to it.

The validation one isn't even "pro" anymore. They've invaded it and made it the new skeptic thread.

Redirect them here, then, if you must, or get a mod to do it. Not like we can do anything about it.

I won't report anybody. Although somebody reported me today.

No, I meant that you could inform them of this thread's existence if you feel that they've invaded or taken over that thread with their skepticism. You could also have a mod do it in your stead if such a deliberate redirection would make you uncomfortable.

Then again, I don't know how bad it is in there (seeing as how I don't go in there), so maybe I shouldn't be giving advice. I dunno.

Skepticism is usually based on something you don't know or are not sure of. That is why you use facts to either support or dispel any doubts. I am showing everyone proof that "Man of Steel" was liked by most people who watched it. I also showed proof that Batman v Superman is widely popular. If you still are a skeptic, it is not because you have your doubts, but rather you have some other agenda.
Dnno1, you never replied to my question in the previous thread so I'm going to say this here: you accusing people of having an agenda and your reasons for doing so are ridiculous. You pulling out these "facts" about who all did or did not like the film have absolutely no bearing on what we are talking about here. You are repeating nonsense that isn't relevant to the discussion at hand.
I am not eagerly anticipating this movie as I doubt the quality, but I want it to be good. Apparently you don't believe that, and that is what is becoming irritating. Why would I want this movie to be bad? What sort of agenda do you think I have? It makes absolutely zero sense.

The Spider-Man boards had the organics vs tech threads which turned into Raimi vs Webb.
