The Amazing Spider-Man SM4 included "the baby" and "legendarily awful" - AICN

Hmm. Baby May wouldn't have been TERRIBLE, but I am happy for the reboot. My main worry was that he wanted to use Vulture as a headlining villain and just like Sandman in 3. They both can't headline films, they need someone else to boost them up.

I have a hard time believing a kid was the next step.

Be careful what you wish for, guys. If this movie is a hit, it's going to set an alarming precident for movies. We're going to be seeing the same friggin' stories getting recycled every 10 years, and it's going to creatively bankrupt Hollywood. Imagine if instead of saying "I like Lord of the Rings," you had to say "I like the 2000's Lord of the Rings," because otherwise people won't know which version of the trilogy you're talking about. This is only going to further segment the fanbase and dilute the cultural relevance of the franchise.

Sandman could headline if done right. He's very one dimensional(though in sm3 they changed him lot) but he is a powerhouse except for the whole water weakness thing.

First. You don't know how a baby would have been introduced. It could have been a --10 years later situtation at the end of the film.

Second, I'm sure a bunch of Sony heads would love to spread the world that they "saved" us fans from the terrible Raimi Spiderman so thank us for this reboot.

Third. I'm totally in favor of this reboot, just not now. It shouldn't happen until after 2015.

People who say 'Raimi lover' as if it is something derrogatory are idiotic ***es.

Oh, come on. Most people dislike the idea of a reboot. This is just Sony's way of saying that they "saved us" from Raimi's fourth installment.
Most people are overreacting at the idea of a reboot. Most people overreacting at the idea of the reboot were ready to kick Raimi to the curb right after walking out of theaters seeing Spider-Man 3.

What changed for you guys? We literally KNOW NOTHING about the direction of the reboot aside from it's in high school. That's IT.

The fanboys are playing right into Sony's hand. They got them all pissed at Raimi for the dumb things that they did to the franchise, then point to the production problems Spider-Man 4 was having and say it was all Raimi's fault, and that they saved the franchise from him. Fact of the matter though is that Raimi was a nuisance for Sony, and now that he's gone they can do whatever dumb crap they want to the franchise and the Fanboys are going to give them the benefit of the doubt until they see the finished product. And by then, it'll be too late.

Personally, I hope this movie flops. Even if it's good, we'll all be much better off if one of the big studios gets a nice slap in the face for pushing another unnecessary reboot on us instead of giving us something new.

Fanboys can never be taken seriously. Raimi gave us TWO great Spider-Man movies but that doesn't matter because he gave us ONE bad installment. And that installment wasn't even that bad. It was no Batman & Robin. That's for sure.

Give it the right tone (a la Iron Man), the right cast, and good, non-recycled villains (Lizard, Kraven, Electro, Mysterio, Scorpion, Vulture), and I don't care that it's being rebooted. I have no particular attachment to following through with Tobey's Peter or Kirsten's Mary Jane. I just want more good Spider-Man movies.

Honestly, I think the biggest shame is that they'll probably have to drop J.K. Simmon's JJJ. There might not be more perfect casting in any superhero movie.

I was pissed after Spider-Man 1 ! Raimi dropped the ball in so many departments i. e. classic Spider-Man banter / charm, watering downed scripts, Goblin Ranger, Peter ***** Parker, the list goes on and on...

This isn't the first time we've heard news of a baby.

Remember this official (legit) casting call from November:

We don't know for sure if it would have been Peter and MJ's kid, but they were casting for red headed baby boy.

Could have been for the baby most likely.
