Hi this is just a short synopsis of this large story/universe I wanted to write about, let me know your thoughts - this is in the vein of a kid's comedy story but with some dark elements added.
Set up: Far into the future, the Earth is a desolate dead place, destroyed by children of an almost God-like deity alien race, as they were having a "toy race" with their massive space craft tearing through the galaxy and one of the children in a complete mistrajectory whizzed by Earth and the force from the child's toy ship completely destroyed Earth life, However, humans knew about this planned race well in advance and managed to escape in the millions to other stars and Galaxies. Thus all Humans that are born are not Earth born but born on other worlds and planets.
Future (current story setting history) - The Galactic federation which decrees democracy for all but is very autocratic, strict with pure central power is currently at war with a new enemy, a bunch of loose bandits, tribes, groups of Pirates who are generally united under one leader. The pirates aren't evil per say, they just want to bring perfect pure competition and complete freedom to who they believe are "enslaved" planets by the Galactic Federation. The war is at a stalemate, with the federation not able to defeat the Pirates despite having 65% of the galaxy.
The federation knows very little about the Pirate Leader - no one has ever seen him, no one even knows his real name or even what kind of Alien race he belongs to. His secrecy and how he always manages to elude the federation has been a bane and thorn in the side for the federation military. One bit of information however was transmitted by a spy infiltrating the Pirate regime but who was later caught and disposed of - that bit of information seemed completely useless at first to the Federation council - the info bit being that the Pirate Leader loves food. He is a complete foodie but he has very particular tastes - high class fussy eater the Pirate Leader is.
The federation finally realizes what they can do with this idea - they find the two greatest chefs in the galaxy (one human, the other a hybrid between a spider and scorpion in look). These two chefs HATE each other, they are ultimate rivals but are asked by the Federation to combine their talents, put aside their dislike for each other to create the most wholesome delicious dish they can possibly create.
The federation manage to establish contact via an emissary to the advisors closest to the Pirate leader - they offer a peace deal with negotiations - an armistice for now with further peace talks planned. And as a show of goodwill, they will send two of the Galactic federation's finest chefs to bring the leader their finest culinary creation.
The chefs manage to put aside their hatred and realize the future of the galaxy is at stake, they delve into the gorgeous culinary history of various worlds and find that Earth had the most beautiful of all palettes - but so much was wasted by primitive Humans - destruction of all that is beautiful - the real key being that food can unite.
The story goes on to show how they deliver the dish, meet the Pirate leader and the final conclusion
