Smallville Battle from MOS vs The New York Battle from IW

What’s a Smaville battle?

But seriously, I actually really liked the IW NY battle, but then it gets overshadowed by every other battle in the movie that follows.

But I had to go with the Smallville fight, finally seeing Superman unleashed with modern effects, and against 2 other villains just powerful, was truly a sight to behold, and is still one of the best CBM fight scenes for me.

Easily the NY battle. Much more creative and it has good character work instead of having the hero take the fight into a more populated area.

I've read the populated area thing so many times and I don't know why people are so hung up on it. Have some fun with your movies If I was gonna decry every hero for being irresponsible I would have no movies to watch.

I agree with that. I think that was the scene I always wanted to see in a superhero movie, the one that finally sold the physicality of super-powered people. I adore the battle in Superman II, but Man of Steel makes it look like it's really happening.

IW actually has nuances and character and twists and turns. It was more fun, more engaging, and ultimately, more meaningful for the film it was in.

I have tons of fun with superhero movies. Less so with the one that was a character assassination piece on the Kents.

I don't understand your signature. You get that Amazing Spider-man 2 cost way, way, way more to make, right? It's rumored that the budget was over 300 million, whereas Homecoming only cost 175.

And it grossed over $100mil more domestically which meant way more for the studio. Nevermind the fact that it turned around a pattern of diminishing returns and got significantly better reception from critics and audiences. It was very obviously more successful in every notable way.

That would be a number of action scenes in the Incredibles imo. The Dash chase is well...

The Battle of Smallville misses something important. Characters and story. I have always quite liked it, but I have soured on it and MoS in general over the years, and in many ways it is a lot of punching, with little sequences that don't quite make sense in its own internal logic. The best thing about Smallville to me is Clark getting use to doing his thing.

Nolan's major Batman scenes I listed are imo, perfect examples of the character, in different stages of his career. Bruce's recklessness and adrenaline display in Begins. The way he concerns himself with saving everyone in TDK Prewitt scene. How beaten down he is by the time Bane comes around (that it is setup by him doing his well known Batman thing is just perfect imo). Spidey vs. Ock is a fantastic fight, that does not forget that Spidey is there to save people. Not have an epic looking fist fight. And you get that with No Man's Land, Ragnarok, and others.

Plenty of those scenes can match up straight in terms of action. But it is the character work and how they are woven into the story that matters most. When Widow sees the Winter Soldier about to kill her, its get me every time. Same with Cap showing up like a hero to save her. Or Cap trying to calm Tony down before having to just straight up fight him in Civil War. There is no moment in the Smallville fight that can compare to Tony thinking that Cap was going to split his head in half. What it says about Tony's state of mind in comparison to Cap.

Also is it just me, but doesn't 19% sound like a lot? A 170m is a lot of money. Especially with so much of it coming domestically.

The Spider-Man 2's Train Fight is much, much better in every aspects (keep in mind it was released in 2004).

TDK's swat fight? Lmao

It might be my favorite. Outside of one badly shot punching sequence, it is rather glorious imo. The character work with Gordon, Bruce and the Joker is all top notch. It is beautifully shot. Its legit Batman action. And it is Batman doing his job. Trying to save everyone.
