Ok, I'm not sure if anyone else has thought of this, but Chloe is reading a Smallville comic to her and Oliver's son which is telling the story of how Clark became Superman. So wouldn't everyone else know who Superman is then???

That was apparently just supposed to be a nod to the first Superman movie but since they used an actual character it's a bit confusing. It's either some kind of meta thing or it's a custom made comic for her.

But still, whoever made the comic knows now...unless they already knew. It just doesn't make any sense. Why make a comic that just completely let's the cat out of the bag?

I think it was a nod to the Reeve film.

Yeah just a nod to the first Superman film. Anymore than that and you're thinking about it too much. Using a character from the show was a mistake on their part which leads to the confusion.

Well it sure as **** was confusing to me and plenty of my friends...we had the whole WTF moment...

Well it's not Smallville without a ''wtf moment'' or three.

I didn't over think about it, at first when the episode began I was puzzled. But man I WANT THAT COMIC! :p

It doesn't say "Clark" or even "Kent", nor does it mention anyone's names; it merely refers to him as "the boy". I guess it's like Smallville's take on Superman telling the world he is from Krypton and can be hurt by Kryptonite, and what his powers are, and how he gets his power from the yellow sun etc etc.

Doesn't part of his identity rely on everyone assuming that he's just Superman all the time and doesn't have a secret identity at all?

Yes. That's one of several reasons why the finalie was a huge disappointment for me as as a fan.

Sure Chloe doesn't mention his name but I'll be damned if BOTH of his PARENTS aren't shown...and EVERYONE in Smallville knows Jonathan and Martha KENT and who their son is and therefore outing him as Superman...

and to top it all off it has Lana, Pete and Chloe all featured in a frame...so if that were a comic in publication and not just a personalized one print then everybody would know that Clark Kent is Superman...simple as that

Its, I guess, meant to pay tribute to the actual comic. Showing that this is where Superman started, a comic. And on the surface its like no big deal, she is telling her son a story about Superman, and maybe acting like making a comic isn't that hard to do so she made a comic for her child.
But yeah, major mistake now that I think about it. Its an error that shouldn't have happened.
What they could have done was just edited what she said and the pictures so that it was about Superman, but not Clark. (Maybe about Superman as a boy but not Clark). Like How I Met Your Mother sometimes edits the story he tells his children so that he isn't telling them about him and this girl he had sex with.
So Maybe they should have made it obvious that Chloe was editing the story for her son.

Ya like others said it was just more so a nod to stm and taken as a meta joke. And probably also the comic was probably different names and situations and all that on superman story. Like say for example clark at that point been superman for yrs. So his story or folks ideas of his story been out in the media.

when I saw that scene, i was like WTF - don't tell me SV ends as it was all just a comic book, and chloe is some mom reading comic books to her son the whole time.... AAAIIIIEEEE!!!!

what a helluva way to end the series huh? Instead of it being a dream it's a comic book instead....

Something I did notice in that scene, which I thought was a little odd, Chloe is putting her son to bed for the night, then she gets a call from Lois who is at the Daily Planet in the middle of the day.

I guess Chloe could have been in some other time zone. :cwink:

well it is likely she was in a different time zone/country. But did we actually see that it was night in that scenes. She could have just been putting kid bed early since he was only like 5-6 yrs old.

But this is Chloe -- wife of Green Arrow, reading to her and green Arrow's son. It makes sense that the first thing she would teach her son is what superheroes are all about, since the boy will be growing up around them. As for the comic, she probably wrote it herself.

Ya it would have been a funny thing to say chloe was the writer and maybe lana did the art.

that would make more sense but it was published by DC and was $2.99...so EVERYONE who reads that comic knows the secret identities of the heroes
