Hi..
I am new to this Forum and I thought I would drop a post regarding the big SMALLVILLE LIQUIDATION sale which was held in Vancouver last week.
I know this Forum is primarily discussing things about Smallville but I just thought some of you may be interested in the details of the huge liquidation sale.
I originally made this Post at the MOVIE PROP FORUM.
It's a long read so proceed if you wish and ignore if it is not of your interest
The sale was slated to run Thursday April-28-2011 to Saturday-April 30-2011
I was tipped off that there was a Pre sale for Cast and Crew on Wednesday-April 27-2011.
I was fortunate to get into the Pre sale on WED..
The sale took place on 2 different sites nearby each other.
They actually were held in warehouses where Smallville was filmed.
Here is the familiar Superman Sign that let everyone in the area know where the SMALLVILLE SET is
Here is a sign promoting the Sale
The Warehouses were set up as follows..
#1-PROPS AND FURNITURE
#2-Clothing and smaller Props
I hit the clothing WAREHOUSE first.
There were Racks and racks of Clothing in the first Warehouse.
The real focus of SET DEC sales like these is to offer good quality brand name and designer clothing at reasonable prices.
Name Brand designer clothing is available at approx 1/4 or less of the regular retail price.
Most of the clothing has not been worn and if worn maybe once or twice so the main demographic of these sales are people looking to get great deals on the latest ,trendiest clothing.
This sale was full of great clothing.
Of course I was hunting for Screen worn stuff...Tagged and labelled....anything cool.
Typically at these sales if you hunt and search carefully you can find some great stuff.
Typically clothing is left as is when a shoot is Wrapped.
Clothing appears still with Wardrobe tags and is usually mixed in with regular untagged clothing.
I noticed quite early that this sale was definitely different than other Set Dec sales I have attended.
I was told early on by Smallville Crew that WARNER'S had specifically held back all "key" costumes and clothing and most tagged and labelled clothing was pulled..
I am pretty sure that the Crew was pulling stuff off the floor that was tagged and labelled as screen worn but I can't be sure about that
I only saw one item that looked like a key Costume.
It was the ELVIS suit worn by EMIL in the Season 10 episode FORTUNE.
Interestingly nobody from the SV Crew would confirm that this was worn by EMIL but they wanted $500 for it so I have to assume this was Screen worn but there was no tagging to indicate that
I dug through thousands of pieces of clothing and really there was very little with any tagging or labelled at all..
My dilligence did pay off though when I found this gem...
I also found a few other nice items..
At a seperate part of the WAREHOUSE they sold Shoes...
Hundreds of pairs of shoes of all variety...
Here is a nice score..
I picked up some really cool shoes at this sale..
In this Warehouse there were also smaller housewares..some ART work and some other pieces but I didn't notice anything too critical..
Little if anything tagged or labelled ...
The other Warehouse was mostly full of Furniture.
For someone looking for unique furnishings there were some fabulous deals to be had.
There were some Hospital beds that likely were used in METROPOLIS Hospital scenes...
Again very little if any actual Screen used props.
There was nothing like Kryptonite or any space age type Props or Weapons of any kind..
Lots of glassware and kitchen related items...miscellaneous stuff..
The Sale was open to the general public on Thursday...
A decent line formed at 10 am but not overwhelming
The next 3 days were spent sorting through various boxes and racks of clothing and props.
I did find a few choice pieces but there is no question that Warner's wanted to keep most of the critical Props and clothing...
If anyone has any specific questions about this Sale you can PM me and if you are interested in buying stuff from this sale check me out on eBay (user name sunnyweebles)
