Will they release a score of Smallville? There are some really good pieces in the series. In season 8 we have the Lois and Clark theme (distinctively played when Lois talks on the phone with "RBB" in the finale and in "Stiletto"). Also, the Davis's theme is amazing and very powerful. If not a soundtrack for the whole series, I would LOVE a soundtrack of Season 8.

EDIT: There is also the RBB theme (can be heard multiple times in "Infamous")

i doubt there will ever be a score soundtrack released, but there has been a few mix cds released over the yrs.

Show composer Louis Febre has said a couple of times on twitter that he would love to have a score CD put out, but I doubt that really says much about the chances of it actually happening. I think it'd be really nice to have some select pieces of score from throughout the series. Of course, I'd love to have the music from Season 2 that made use of the Williams themes. I think I almost wet myself when hearing the dark rendition of the Krypton theme as Clark rode away on the motorcycle towards Metropolis.

He just stated again today on twitter he was looking into it:

It'd be interesting to hear what they put on it, whether it'd just be more recent stuff from him (I believe he started with the show starting the 6th season) or would also include Mark Snow stuff too.

Very cool! Hopefully it would include some stuff from earlier seasons.

Yay! The re-done Williams scores from Season 2 were also amazing!

I'm not so enthused about a smallville score... 1) it's all done on synthesizer 2) none of the themes I've heard on the show have been longer than 30 seconds

I would definitely buy a Smallville Score cd! I've always loved the score and this season did introduce some really great themes as said above. The Superman theme used in season 2 was really awesome too. Other great score moments that I can remember off of the top of my head include; Lana's death in "Reckoning", Lionel's funeral in "Descent", and Lex's childhood memories in season 3's "Memoria". I'm sure I'm leaving some out.

Yea their musical scores have been pretty great over the years from mark snow's early seasons work to who ever is the guy running the music since snow left. and they had to do something with cutting budget on copyrighted music.

Yes! Great choices. Definitely Lana's death in "Reckoning." I would also like to hear the score from when Clark takes her to the Fortress and proposes.

Hopefully, a Smallville score CD would be able to encompass such selections from throughout the series, not just that recent couple of seasons.

Yea as i said everything from william's scores they partially used, to mark snow's stuff, to the guy who has been doing the music since snow left.

Ooo! Thought of some more. The teaser/opening of Season 5, with Clark building the Fortress and being greeted by the Jor-El program inside.

"Welcome home, my son."

And,

From the Season 6 premiere, the music from Martha meeting Jor-El in the Fortress after the plane crash.

I also love the theme played with the Toyman and the scenes with Emily from Seasons 2 and 3 (or was it 3 and 4?). Nice and creepy! Sends chills down your back.

Those are great score moments. Most scenes taking place inside the Fortress of Solitude have good music. :D

Most often, yes. :-P

In the two scenes I mentioned, you can definitely hear the influence of Williams on the score, which is understandable, but still the music stands on its own and fits well within the world of the show's score.

Another one!

Clark's death, Lion-El's awakening - Season 5, episode 3 "Hidden".

:D

I just re-watched that scene and yes it does have great score! Another moment I just thought about was Alicia's death in "Pariah...I think?" and Jonathan's death before the funeral scene in "Reckoning".

I'm ripping Descent right now. It has six audio channels so hopefully I can flatten five of them (if the speech track is isolated to only center) and then I can convert the final song to an Mp3. If it works I'll upload it and take requests for other episodes. (Please note that this won't work with earlier seasons as they are either stereo or 2.1 audio)

I did what I could and here it is, the ending to "Descent" (Ripped, Converted, Isolated, Edited, Compressed and Uploaded by Me): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9AIJ47C7
NOTE: Please don't download if you don't own the episode out of respect to Mark Snow.

I got really excited about requests, but bummed out when you said it won't work for earlier seasons. Saaaad. :p

Are you only able to work from audio material from Season 7? Nothing prior?

Listening to the track now. Nicely done! That can't have been awfully easy. At the very least, I imagine it was time-consuming. Thank you for sharing.:up:

Hearing the music stand alone really, really, really makes me wish even more for a score release. Even though many people, myself included, would love to have stuff from the entire run of the show, notably selections from the Rosetta, Calling, and Exodus, this goes to show that there's still really good material to publish from the more recent seasons.

bloody buggery double posts

Hey man, thanks for the link! You did a fantastic job ripping the score! I would love it if you would rip the music from Lana's death in "Reckoning"! Or is that too early of a season for 5.1 audio?

No Problem. I know Season 6 is 5.1 so that will work. So pretty much I can only work with Season 6, 7 and 8 (once it comes out). I'm gonna rip the intro and two end credit variants and get the full version of the intro song to put online and to include in a fan-album. I'll keep you posted. Requests will be included.

Actually, I believe Mark Snow last worked for Smallville in Season 6.

Descent was the work of Louis Febre.
