My home town at the moment is trying to introduce the congestion charge saying they will add more trams and buses so leave your car at home. As i dont drive i was on the tram this past saturday and had the joy of having a guy sit next to me who basically smelt like a pack of cigarettes. This got me thinking to myself something i've always believed, Is smoking the most disgusting habit?

My mother smoke's as does my fiances mother and i hate everything about it, from the look ofa person holding a cigarette, there breath and the odour it leaves on them that aside it's also slowly killing the person that smokes.(and thats not even getting into the point of passive smoking)

I was so glad when (in the UK) the banned smoking in public places yet it still annoys me when i'm out in a outdoor place, my town has it's annual Christmas fair, So i take my 2 small children only for people to hold there Cigarettes so low that as they walk past they come so close to my childrens faces,( not to mention the people who just flick there ash behind them, thewind blowing said ash at my children).

What are your thoughts, Is smoking the most disgusting habit?

It's absolutely disgusting. One of the biggest turn-offs ever, as well. I'd never date a smoker. I don't understand why anyone would start smoking these days knowing how horrible it is for you.

'Congestion charge' lol

Greetings fellow Manc :)

I only smoke after sex; I'm down to 40 a day

I've given up my extreme stance against smoking. The more smokers smoke, the faster they die. They've all appeared to make peace with that fact so smoke it up. I'd rather just move myself away from the smoke

I voted yes b/c I thought the question was the same as the thread title.

I would have voted the last option.

I'm an ex-smoker (almost five years, now). I won't get into the "why's" of why I ever started in the first place, but the long-term health effects are horrendous and, after being faced with the potential of seriously eff'ing up my health in the long-term, I'm glad I was able to quit and stay quit. And, yes, it's disgusting.

Very true, I dated a smoker once and while kissing when you first start to date should be loads of fun it soon became a chore.

Yes eggy i'm a manc, we were talking not so long ago about us both being atthesame first preview screening of The Dark Knight and that you wore a 'shell suit':yay:

Way to kick the habit. If I hear that you're thinking about pickin it back up, Myself, your wife and kid will take turns throwing beartraps at you :o

I've been off for over a year now and I'd say no, it's definately not. I think people get way too hysterical over smokers, and the one thing I cannot stand is condescending former smokers with that holier than thou attitude. I quit cause of health reasons, but I try to make sure I never become one of those pathetic smug bastards. I love going over to europe and getting those packs with the giant warning labels talking about how evil you are to smoke. I collect them, they're pretty funny.

For me overeating is by far the most disgusting habit. Unless it's a genetic thing there's no need to be 300lbs and wearing spandex while cramming 8 happy meals down your gullet with a large coke and taking up an entire isle with just your left buttcheek. Smoking doesn't physically repulse me, but fat people...gross. People here saying smoking's the worst and you'd never date a smoker think which you'd rather date, a smoker or someone really fat.

Puny beartrap no hurt Hulk! :bh:

Getting my wife to quit was the difficult one. I had to knock her up. :D Me, I just quit one day and that was it. Picked up the weight lifting habit again instead and it's kept me off the damn cigs.

jag, you might still get lung cAner. some ciggerate side effects are permenet. :csad:

I do hate smoking, and I hate the attitude some smokers are.
I remember some teacher telling us that it was fascism that our government had banned smoking in public places...

***** please, you've no right to hinder my health just because you are too much of a dumb**** to realize what you are doing to yourself.

Was it really that hard?

For her to quit? Yeah, it was. When she got pregnant, her hormones changed and she couldn't stand to do it anymore. Thankfully, she's not gone back to it now that my son is born.

Thor, you may never be able to spell properly. Some brain damage side effects are permanent.

I think most smokers understand that it's bad for them. :whatever:
