So Brother Voodoo becomes the new Sorcerer Supreme!

So Brother Voodoo becomes the new Sorcerer Supreme( does this mean that he inherits Dr Strange's old enemies such as Dormammu, Baron Mordo and Dracula?)!

This puts BV in a position similar to Barack Obama in the real world. All I can say, it's about time- Brother Voodoo is one of those Marvel characters who deserve more attention than they get. Anyway, there are only SO many mystic heroes in the MU!

I wanted the Hood and Dormammu to be Sorcerer Supreme, it would have fit Dark Reign much better.

I wasn't all that shocked, and I'm not upset, by him being made the new sorcerer Supreme.
I mean they always have him as the new Sorcerer Supreme in what if stuff:

Granted I am not familiar with the character, but he seems alright as the new sorcerer.
But what would have really shocked me would have been this:

Brother Voodoo being the new SS makes no sense for at least 1 main reason:

The sorcerer supreme is supposed to be the most powerful sorcerer (hence sorcerer SUPREME) by definition.

After Civil War (so just a couple months ago Marvel time) it was shown in Avengers that Strange still clearly out-powered BV (Strange was hiding the whole avengers team in plain sight by magic and BV was right there with all the time in the world and couldn't detect them.

So, even just a couple months ago Strange was shown as clearly being more powerful than BV. If "Sorcerer Supreme" doesn't mean that one is the most powerful sorcerer then the title makes no sense.

How about, "pretty important sorcerer, but who can get schooled by a pretty amount of other sorcerers out there".

Or how about:

"Yet another c-list character that Bendis feels like giving attention to for no particular reason".

I think its good that they chose the unexpected, its another black hero rising up. I think it would of been interesting if wiccan had taken the mantle. But I like bro.voodoo more.

I agree with RH that Strange is still further up the Sorcerer scale than the good Brother, but I'm willing to see what happens with him. I don't have any intense like or dislike with the character, so proceed as planned people....

(speaking of which..where might his exploits be found? Is he in a particular team or something? Or is he just wandering around the MU with his new title and stature?)

I'm not a big fan of BV, he always seem like a hokey character who was created to add more ethnic diversity to Marvel, but ended up as the butt of jokes. Personally I'd rather see Shaman be SS, but I'm not sure if he's still alive or not.

Brother Voodoo makes superfriends Aquaman look dignified. He's been the butt of Jokes for as long as I've been reading Marvel. This is the Equivalent of replacing Yoda with Jar Jar Binks.

Yeah, and that's really the ONLY thing they have in common -- it was a horrible mistake to put either one in the position they find themselves in today.

Seriously. Dr. Strange is awesome and who cares about Brother Voodoo? I didn't even know who he was until was in NA trying to help Stark find the fugitive Avengers.

And guess what? He couldn't even get past an illusion. How the hell is he supposed to be worthy of the SS title?
