So... I just got a PS3 Slim

And it's very nice in 1080i =) But having never had a PlayStation 3 before (and of course it's not backwards compatible), what games would you suggest getting? I bought Batman: Arkham Asylum along with it and that's cool. Not that I only need this, but I do like games like Zelda where you have puzzles etc. I'm up for anything though.

if you like racing games, both Motorstorms are very good. Not all these games involve puzzle solving, but it's a pretty good variety. There are lots of multiplatform games too that are worth your purchase

Congrats! BM made a lot of great suggestions. The only thing I think I could add to the list is Katamari Forever which comes out on the 22nd. It's fun and quirky. Also if you like some of the old school games, I recommend (even though it isn't PS3 exclusive) Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.

Uncharted for sure. It's like Tomb Raider except much better. Also, Uncharted 2 comes out pretty soon.

If you like the Metal Gear series, then Metal Gear Solid 4 is a no brainer.

Little Big Planet is great. It has a really strong community, and there are plenty of really impressive player-created levels to discover.

Neither of these come out until 2010, but you should probably take a peek at Heavy Rain and The Last Guardian.

I would think it would be a good bet to play Uncharted 1 before 2, just so you know the back story and everything to the characters and all.

Assassin's Creed, in my opinion, is a really fun game. But many people don't care for it as it can get repetitve after a while. However, at the current price point of twenty to thirty dollars, I would personally pick it up. Or you could just wait for Assassin's Creed II in November which looks to remedy a lot of problems in the first one.

I think it would probably be a good idea to play Uncharted 1 first.

Agreed. It's like watching and playing a 9 hour movie that is a cross between Indiana Jones and National Treasure with plot twists everywhere and great puzzle solving. Throw in a jet-ski level and it becomes epic. And for a game that came out holiday 07' it still has some of the prettiest graphics I've ever seen.

Uncharted 2 might be the only reason I stop playing Batman:AA.

Definitely, just a great game mixed with action and adventure. I'd also highly recommend InFamous, that game is just pure awesomeness as well.

InFamous will probably take like 20 hours to beat for whichever road you take (Good/Evil). Uncharted would probably take half that time and Batman would be similar I would think. Not sure if the length of the game will matter. lol.
