I'm sure the movie is actually pretty watchable.Movies205 said:I apologize, but this online cred seems to be the new hype fad, people keep being called on it. Anyway about the movie....
I love the Breakfast Club, even my parents love the Breakfast Club.Geekz said:The Breakfast Club and Fast Times are my faves

Fast Times is easily the best teen film for me IMO. It is by far the most realistic portrayal of high school I've ever seen. The clothes, hair, and music may be dated, but the sentiments echoed throughout the film still ring true today. I was born 8 years after the film came out, and I watched it for the first time last summer, and it is one of my Top 5 faves. It pretty much set a standard for teen comedies and only a select few have lived up to it IMO.

It's really off topic, were discussing teen comedies.ANTHONYNASTI said:It's not just how school is portrayed, it's how the characters are portrayed. They are so well developed and believable. The emotions the characters go through throughout the entire course of the films are ones I think pretty much all teenagers have experienced at one point in their lives, whether it be sexual frustration, awkwardness around women, goofing off or just plain nothing going right, everything most if not all teenagers go through is portrayed in a completely believable way.
Don't want to get off topic though.
Yeaaaahhh....JLBats said:I recently realised how stupid it is to actually debate the actual quality of a movie.
People just like something. It's not like after a long, dry argument one side will go "Oh my God, you're right, this movie SUCKS!" or "Wow, now I want to hump that Martin Scorsese fellow!" It's much better to just disect movies and compare them through themes and motifs and leave actual quality to the individual, the critic, the populace, and ultimately history.

Have you seen Ghost World? It's probably the best thing to come out of the 90's teensploitation fad.ANTHONYNASTI said:Teen comedies reached their peak in the 1980s'. Fast Times (the best film of the genre), Heathers, The Breakfast Club, Say Anything - all classics. There were only a select few of real note after that (Clueless, the American Pie series, Mean Girls).

Precisely. It was an enjoyable, light-hearted flick. Nothing so deep that requires a dissection.Movies205 said:Most of my post brings up objective points but with a movie like this it's simply a feel-good movie that I liked...
