So it turns out Stonehenge was...

maybe if they dig around a little more, they'll find some alien bones.

Man ,I used to love reading about all those crazy alien theories and how they were tied to ancient civilizations. (probably why I enjoyed that aspect of the new Indy so much).

This one was always cool:

This above image is a diagram of the stars of the Belt of Orion. Now look at the diagram of the pyramids below.

They are poisitioned exactly under the stars...

and the just look at these ACTUAL carvings:

I've read some Erich Von Daniken, he's got some pretty thought-provoking theories.

He definitely has some good points, sadly the face on mars was proved to be a trick of lighting.

They must have been some pretty important ppl to be buried there.

yeah, but it doesn't explain why the Stones were put up like that?

It's so it catches the sun in a certain way because the people who built it worshipped the sun, the real question is how they got the stones there.

I'm not sure what's boring about this. How do you know they weren't human sacrifices or something?

Also the article said it was only one of it's uses, it basically tells us stuff we knew before, the only new information was the burials went on longer than we thought, so that article was very useless.

Has no one actually read the article, they buried ashes so I would assume not important people, we don't even know what sort of hierarchy the people had, for all we know it could of been used to scatter the ashes of dead children.

the prevailing theory is that they were transported down river. how they were erected is a different matter. much like the pyramids i'm sure it can be done with enough man power and using tempory ramps and stuff.

That sounds a fairly daft theory as there is no river in Britain that is anywhere near the length the stones travelled.

The bluestones came along the Bristol Channel, then possibly up the River Avon to Bath and overland to the River Wylye at Warminster; thence to Salisbury and Amesbury via a second River Avon to Stonehenge. A ditch-and-bank avenue from the latter river to the monument likely marks their final journey. An alternative possibility is a sea-crossing via Lundy Island (as suggested by Rodney Castleden) and then around the Cornish Peninsula to the Salisbury Avon. (2) The sarsens went probably south-west from the Avebury Hills to a col near Devizes and West Lavington, and then south and east across the chalkland.

quick bit of googling for details.

Stonehenge: Decoded is on tonight. On the history channel I believe.

I can't picture people living around it for some reason.

Wow they must program these shows well in advance.

i watched as much as i could. it's 2 hours long tho! boring!

They used tech based on harmonics to carry them and stack them up.
