So J.Jonah Jameson has been elected mayor of NYC! Given his well known hatred of superheroes as "masked menaces"( and a certain wall crawler in particular) does this mean that he will the powers of his office to persecute via the NYPD all "unregistered" heroes?

Aloha,
To the best of my knowledge, the Super Hero registration Act is still the law. Spidey has been a fugitive since BND began. He can be arrested by NYC police as well as HAMMER and every law enforcement agency in between.
Spidey rules

Since the Super Hero Registration act basically disappeared after Civil War. I doubt it. I mean when he was arrested in CA by logic he shouldn't have gone to Jail he should have gone into SHIELD/HAMMER custody. I always found it weird that after a while in ASM SHIELD basically stopped coming after Spidey and that was when the NYPD were constantly framing him for murder you'd think that would make him high priority.

Sounds cool. Though I think someone had a point that the story's potential may be wasted, since it's happened after really big (and probably more inane) events, i.e. Peter & MJ break-up through supernatural means.

Still, more interested in J.J. as Mayor than Norman (as much as I'm a fan of the Goblin).

I think Spidey obsession aside, JJJ would probably make a good mayor. He's for mutant rights, probably fiscally responsible and tough on his enemies.

Aloha,
I guess it depends on whose writing the story. Norman Osborn and the formally known as Thunderbolts are still after Spidey. So the SHRA must still be in place.

you may be right about that

That will make for a great dynamic.

A Mayor turning the city against Spider-Man; but at the same time, he leads a strong campaign for the pro-registration movement and for Mutant rights.

It would be pretty awesome for him to blame all the city's super-hero damage on Spider-Man soley.
