I made the succulent chicken which had been marinating for 48 hours at approximately 11:30pm. I always leave the chicken out for a while after it's been cooked and sliced until it cools to room temperature. :word:

But I wasn't feeling good last night, so I took some Nyquil . . . I was passed out within moments after the chicken had been cooked. I awoke at 5am with this terrible feeling that I had forgotten to put the chicken away :wow: :csad: at which time I immediately refrigerated it . . .

My question is . . . do you think the chicken will be safe to eat?

Do not eat that chicken, dude.

Humans are a lot sturdier than we're led to believe these days. You could be naked, out in the woods...stumble across an old raccoon corpse, eat, and be fine.
Eat the Chicken.

It is a risk as the food's been sitting in the danger zone for a while, but if you bring it back up to an internal temp of at least 160°F you should be all right.

Only problem is that, more than likely, you'd then have dried out chicken. But a simple sauce or vinaigrette would help that out. Or you can make a basting liquid for it and bast the chicken every once in a while, though this would make it take longer to come to the proper temperature.

Microwave it. Microwaving can kill roaches and politicians. It'll kill salmonella.

You'll be fine as long as it hasn't started to go slimy. Its a fact that the advice they give you on food being safe to eat has a pretty 'saftey buffer' around it. I've drunk milk that was supposedly a week overdate, but wasn't even starting to turn, and eggs can last for years.

You'd be pissing blood out of your ass tho.:o

I don't think it got slimy or anything, and it was at least sealed in a container . . . at first I was just gonna ask Jag, and do whatever he said . . . but it would be such a waste!!

I think I'm going to start out by eating just a piece or two and gaging it from there :ninja:

^you're right . . . I'll just nuke the shyt outta those pesky bacteria . . .

It's going to taste like sh1t if you microwave it enough to kill any bacteria. It will be dried out, stringy and tough. I wouldn't eat it, personally. I like not pissing blood out of my ass as SWAT so eloquently put it.

Having been there, done that with I-think-it's-okay chicken, it's not worth the risk in my opinion. I still cringe thinking about that 12 hours of food poisioning. Good timing, too, the night before I flew out to meet my mother-in-law. Fun times.

It also kills gremlins.

BTW, I would totally eat it. Just reheat it nice and hot. It was only a few hours and it was already cooked.

I only got a taste, and let me tell you the chicken was goddam delicious!!! I'm SO disappointed that it took me that long to prepare it and then I fuackin passed out like I did . . . .

I agree that food poisoning is NEVER worth it . . . but it's also hard to consider that it may be okay to eat, and I just waste it . . .

I'm going to microwave a small piece of the poultry and test the waters . . . if I'm okay after a day, I'll go ahead and make a sandwich . . .

yeah . . . I think I'm gonna have to try the chicken . . . I know it's by no means recommended that I eat it . . . but I think I'll be alright . . .

I think as long as it smells okay, and isn't slimy I'll live . . . I just hope my @$$hole makes it out alive too :(

Take it to some voodoo cat down in New Orleans. Then drink till you drop on Bourbon Street.

Seriously, it's probably fine DV8. People are paranoid hypochondriacs. Either I have an immune system of steel or it's fine to eat somethign that's been out for 6 hours. Think about chinese buffets, etc. It's all good.

Be sure to update your will before you eat it and leave all your cool sh1t to me and all your bills and debts to the people who told you to eat that chicken. My condolences to you and your ass.
