Oh, but it's cool to see anything Sony does as a vicious lie.SouLeSS said:You guys are all looking at it wrong. Sony is showing how much it'll cost to get roughly the same thing from X360 that you do from PS3.
The Live, Extra Controller, HD-DVD player and HDD are all things that DON'T come with the 360 core package, while (I guess) 2 controllers, Blu-Ray, HDD and "Live" come with PS3 core package.

They've used some bad wording in suggesting you're required to buy certain things when you aren't, but it is a reasonable price comparison. The PS3 is cheaper when viewed in that context.

But comparison wise, the HD-DVD, equivalent of the Blu-Ray capabilities of PS3, costs $200 on its own. In that sense, both consoles come in at similar prices.
Yes, we should get a choice. With the 360 you aren't required to get HD-DVD, but that aside, the consoles can be compared in that manner.

I actually recognised this in my post.Horrorfan said:LOL Yeah, but you get a choice if you want to buy a HD-DVD. Sony forces you.
Christ...some of you people amaze me.
I'm not sure Microsoft would have much of a case.Brainiac 8 said:This does sound like a desperation move on Sony's part.
Technically this can be considered slander against Microsoft. That may be the angle they use in a lawsuit, assuming they go through with it.
No, there's a big difference between "Required" and "To match PS3 functionality". I mean, they're saying the HD-DVD player is REQUIRED for the 360, when not a single 360 game will need one. Memory card required, along with a hard drive? No.SouLeSS said:You guys are all looking at it wrong. Sony is showing how much it'll cost to get roughly the same thing from X360 that you do from PS3.

No, that's ridiculous.Avalanche said:I'm not sure Microsoft would have much of a case.
In terms of 'requires users to buy', what is meant is 'doesn't come for free', which is true. It doesn't mean that users 'must' buy these components.
