So my head just exploded.

LMAO. I love how your'e apparently "required" to get a 2nd controller with the X360, but you only need 1 for the PS3.

Of course, not to mention the "required" HD-DVD drive, HDD, and XBOX Live service.

The article states the Microsoft may be seeking legal actions for the spread of this false info. That'd be great to see just in time for PS3's launch.

You guys are all looking at it wrong. Sony is showing how much it'll cost to get roughly the same thing from X360 that you do from PS3.

The Live, Extra Controller, HD-DVD player and HDD are all things that DON'T come with the 360 core package, while (I guess) 2 controllers, Blu-Ray, HDD and "Live" come with PS3 core package.

Oh, but it's cool to see anything Sony does as a vicious lie.

They've used some bad wording in suggesting you're required to buy certain things when you aren't, but it is a reasonable price comparison. The PS3 is cheaper when viewed in that context.

As if one Zenien wasn't enough.... we now have two :o

Oh and it's not cool to see anything sony says as a lie. It's often known as ''having a brain''.

& so the legend continues of Sony talking out of their ass & not even having the correct facts (sighs) this shows how desperate they are to go this low

I agree it's misleading.

But comparison wise, the HD-DVD, equivalent of the Blu-Ray capabilities of PS3, costs $200 on its own. In that sense, both consoles come in at similar prices.

Yes, we should get a choice. With the 360 you aren't required to get HD-DVD, but that aside, the consoles can be compared in that manner.

The 360 & HD DVD Drive together = $100 dollars cheaper then the PS3

LOL Yeah, but you get a choice if you want to buy a HD-DVD. Sony forces you.

Christ...some of you people amaze me.

£50 is a pretty small difference.

In the end its still cheaper & you have a different price thing in your country &for us its basically is $100 dollars cheaper & America

I actually recognised this in my post.

I'm not agreeing with Sony's tactics of forcing Blu-Ray upon us. Just saying they can compare HD-DVD as next-gen DVD along with Blu-Ray. In terms of pricing at least.

Maybe if you bought the Xbox 360 and PS3 to play nothing but movies would I buy this "You need the HD-DVD to be on the same level as Blu-Ray." **** but the fact of the matter is the 360 and PS3 are gaming consoles.****ing Gaming Consoles. Not movie players. Period. End of discussion.

This does sound like a desperation move on Sony's part.

Technically this can be considered slander against Microsoft. That may be the angle they use in a lawsuit, assuming they go through with it.

If I want to watch movies, I'll go to a theatre or blatantly bootleg it from an unnamed source. :o

I'm not sure Microsoft would have much of a case.

In terms of 'requires users to buy', what is meant is 'doesn't come for free', which is true. It doesn't mean that users 'must' buy these components.

No, there's a big difference between "Required" and "To match PS3 functionality". I mean, they're saying the HD-DVD player is REQUIRED for the 360, when not a single 360 game will need one. Memory card required, along with a hard drive? No.

You can't spin this stuff, it's just wrong.

No, that's ridiculous.

"Required for play"

and

"Purchase required to own"

are in completely different fields.

We are seeing the worst spins of all time in this thread.

They are Sony Bastards after all. Theyd say anything to make Sony & the PS3 look good regardles sof what Sony does or say & wether its right or wrong. This thread alone is proof of that

At this point Microsoft should take some legal action on Sony. Its one thing to compare but outright lie to customers to get an advantage ? Kick Sonys ass Microsoft
