Green Goblin being on the loose and he is pretty much working together with the Goblin. Wow. I mean how can Tony really be that cold hearted and careless? I loved how Urich confronted him on that issue. I seriously can't wait to see how Peter is going to respond to this specific topic.

Also...anyone not picking up Front Line..seriously needs to. It's actually been more exciting and informative than the main Civil War series itself.

i don't get it
if an iron man movie is being made why on EARTH are themarvel writers turning tony stark into a scumbag? it'd ruin the books AND the movie
ok he was a self interested buisnessman protecting his company from takeovers at first who owning a businees wouldn't have that concern?
also in time he expanded iron mans activities to include others BESIDES si why is that so scummy? i simply don't understand the reasoning for this can anybody please explain this to me thanks

The cause? Bad writing, man. Paragraphs upon paragraphs can't justify the Grand Canyon size leap in logic. But they'll try. Oh how they'll try.

Huh... I usually think just the opposite. The story with Ben and Sally is good, but the rest of it.... Speedball - is that his name? - he's really starting to get on my nerves. And I find the preachy (dare I say leftist), poorly drawn parallel's in the rear, to be mostly tedious and eye-rolling.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Wow really?

I actually find Speedball to be the most interesting character in the entire Civil War. Talk about not turning your back on your beliefs no matter how stubborn it might make you seem.

I seriously think Front Line has been levels ahead of the actual Civl War series

Frontline's ok, but I definitely agree with you, Cap, about the story in the back. Completely unnecessary and pretentious (I tire of the analogies CW is trying to make with current events; it's like listening to Hugo Chavez sometimes).

Beliefs in what... exactly? In doing what he wants, when he wants, with no accountability?

Captain America seemed to have a problem with the execution of the Act and didn't like the enforcement end of things - rightly so. But I've never gotten that sense from Speedball. He just doesn't want to admit that he was in ANY way responsible for what happened with the tragedy at the school. I find it a little despicable that he doesn't show any acknowledgement, regret or remorse for having had a part in it. Sure, HE didn't blow up stuff and that's where the buck ultimately stops, but he and the others acted irresponsibly and he SHOULD own that. Peter would have.

Yep, Tony's become this "the ends justify the means" kind of guy. It's getting very hard to call him a hero these days.

and i STILL can't figure out why there doing this to him or reed either

Tony is just trying to do what he thinks is right and is being the gov.'s *****. He keeps saying that he hates it. Its Marvel's fought they are prtraying all the bad things he does, and not the good. But, from here, he looks pretty bad.

I agree. I really enjoy Front Line although I don't like the story in the back. But I like the other stories in it a lot.

Well, Peter hasn't really been "himself" lately.

Speedball isn't going to bend over backwards for this. He's stubborn. He knows what happened was wrong but, he isn't willing to sell out to the goverment. Since the story began "Tony and comp" aren't "asking" people to sign up. There basically being forced. Either sign up or be jailed for the rest of your life. If you don't sign up..your either locked up in the negative zone or push comes to shove...you end up like "Goliath". Speedball has already admitted what happened was awful and terrible. He's being locked away because he hasn't registered yet.

It's almost like the actual "accident" doesn't even matter. Speedball is being beat down and abused because he hasn't registered yet.

I hate how Stark is being wrote as more and more of a dick in each Civil War Issue. I was with him in the begining but now I'm just like "WTF???"

But Peter's usual MO is to take on even more responsibility than he should. He wouldn't say, hey, it's not MY fault some crazy villains blew up a bunch of kids - like Speedball did. He would have beat himself up for knowing better than to provoke a volitile scene so close to innocent bystanders.

What exactly does that mean... sell out to the government? What is "selling out" about registering? In HIS case, he's probably lucky - after what happened - that he has ANY way out.

If, after registering (a reasonable request) he refused to VIOLENTLY go after other heroes who balked at registering, I might view him as more nobel... but read the scene where he turned down his lawyers offer. If I remember, it was about not admitting responsibility. It was about not being accountable to anyone. He kinda came off like a punk. At least, that was my impression.

Meh..different strokes I guess.

Why don't they just have Tony kill infants and drink their blood already? He and Reed can have a baby-murdering party.

Speaking of frontline, anyone know the inside skinny on this whole 'sleeper cell' story?

I thought there would have been more discussion on it.

Apparently Robert Downey Junior is playing Iron Man. Does that help?

Anyway, isn't this a good thing to a point? I mean - don't get me wrong. This is poor characterization at it's finest. But the fact that Marvel is WILLING to take their characters in totally radical directions shows that they're not letting themselves be completely tied down by the films, right?

When was the last time people were talking this much about Iron Man? He's in like every thread and half of everyone's sigs. There is no such thing as bad publicity.

Yeah, the story in the back of every Frontline is kinda tiresome :whatever: . But I am loving the series so far....go Urich!

Even though I agree with some of Speedball's sentiments I still think he comes off as an immature punk a lot (but that seems to be the point i guess).

And is it me, or does Robert Downey Jr. seem like the perfect analog for a real life Tony Stark? I mean he's constantly battling his various drug addictions and is featured in the tabloids all the time. PERFECT!

The Speedball story is great, I love his character in it. The pretentious haiku crap that takes up three pages in the back should definatly go. I read comics to escape English Lit 101, and stretching a two panel fight sequence, to tie it with one of Robert Frost's best is really starting to annoy me

So GG is working with Tony? Explain please... :o

And please don't tell me it's some complete bullcrap reason like the villains have agreed to work for the government to take down the anti-reg heroes and Tony & Co. are behind it...?

Cause that would be friggin dumb.
