I heard around the time of X Men Last Stand entering production that a new Wolverine and the X Men 'toon was in production. I was expecting to hear more when LS ruled the box office, but since then, nothing. Anyone know what's going on with it?

It'll probably be released when Wolverine is.
Anyways...Wolverine is overrated and LS sucked.

X3 was easily the best movie out of the trilogy. But people just love to jump on bandwagons and they jumped on the X3 sucks one before it even started filming :whatever:

Yeah, you think wolverine's overrated....that's really gonna put a stop to his spin off film, comics, cartoons, games, etc :oldrazz:

I don't think Wolverine is overrated but I did not like the X3 movie, and it wasn't because everyone said so either. It was just not a fan film.

But anyway, I have heard as recently as last week that they have casted the voice of Cyclops. So Wolverine and the X-men is underway, just hope that means Wolverine isn't the team leader. Because he would never be the team leader.

Looking forward to them putting out official character designs for the show.

That first sentence just says a lot about your credibility.

I care what you think about me why?

You jumped on a bandwagon, like 98% of the haters.

''OMG HE UNDERUSED CHARACTERS!''. Yeah, because Cyclops, Collossus, Sabretooth, Toad and Storm all had so much development in the first two movies.

''OMG DEY KILLED CYCLOPS!'' Yeah, because he was SO vital to the movies :whatever:

I just kind of pity the weak minds that hated the movie before it even began productions. Let Harry Knowles or whatever tell you what to think, it's up to you.

Horrorfan is both right and wrong. Ratner captured so many things that Singer failed to. On the other hand, Ratner also got a lot wrong.

actually I think people were annoyed cyclops was killed cause it was the freaking phoenix saga (well supposed to be) he should have been front and center, yeah he was underused in x2, but the end showed how much he loved jean and set up an x3 where cyclops should have been one of (if not THE) main characters

Why the hell are you all talking about X3? Take this crappy discussion back to any random thread in the X3 forum. If I wanted to hear this ridiculously redundant argument AGAIN, I'd be there.

I don't doubt that the X-Men marketing machine will just keep on rolling. Though I haven't heard anything personally about a new animated series, since there's not one now, there most definitely will be within the next 3-4 years, I think.

If you wanted the pheonix saga as it was page for page in the comics, READ the comics. I'm sorry, but anyone who was expecting Cyclops to be the center of any X Men movie is an idiot. He's just not an interesting enough character, and had he and not wolverine been at the center of any of the x men movies, it would have bombed horribly. Not to mention that having alien races and spaceships in the movie would have KILLED the credibility of the grounded reality the films are based in.

The Pheonix saga in the comics was ultimately about love and sacrafice. Those themes were carried over, except with Wolverine replacing cyclops. If that upsets Cyclops fans, that's because they had unrealistic and frankly idiotic expectations. Cyclops would have never been the main character because I'd say a good 98% of the non comic reading audience (ie about 95% of the film's full audience) didn't give a crap about him.

A movie adaptation is just that, an adaptation. The themes survived from the pheonix saga, but had it been done straight from the page, it would have been a flop at the box office, and damn silly seeing all these alien races running around after the first two movies tried so hard to be realistic.

Don't be an idiot, you can see he started bringing up X Men 3 before I did. I just mentioned that this is when the cartoon was announced. So yeah, don't be a dickwad and realise that if I wanted to discuss X3's quality, I would have called the thread '' what did you think of x3?'' in the x3 section. It was him who started talking about it, and I just let him have my views on it.

I don't care who started it, ******. Grow up and end it by staying on topic.

It's obvious that any animated series will have to include Wolverine so as to maintain the marketability of the franchise toward little kids. I think that the advertising companies have realized that the anti-hero usually comes off fairly well to all age groups and that not including him would be a mistake.

Don't get me wrong, I'd happily support and watch a series based on the adventures of the original five but it's just not gonna happen. :(

actualy i didnt bring it up mate, why dont YOU take another look, i dont wanna stray off topic anymore, but I never said anything about alien races or what not, just that it didnt make sense for wolverine to have cyclops role at the end, even the chav behind me in the cinema asked his girlfriend "what was up with that"

at least based on casting news this project already loosk to include a good few xmen, cyclops, nightcrawler, and I think collosus

Stop *****ing you ****ing tard.

Yeah, you'd happily support it, and then it would be cancelled after ten minutes.

LOL Yeah, it's only kids who like wolverine. Awesome argument brainbox :whatever:

You should perhaps read my post again... I even bolded it so your simple mind can comprehend it.

What I said was that Wolverine is central to long-term sustainability of any X-Men media other than comic books. Any new TV show, movie, animated series, or video game will have to include Wolverine if it wants to sell at all. Comic books are a little different because the target audience has more thorough knowledge of other characters. However, people that are new to the X-Men are generally introduced to them through Wolverine. Thus, when they see a new series with Wolverine in it, they automatically know it's about the X-Men and they might be more inclined to watch it.

Do I like it? Of course not. I don't believe that Wolverine should be the central figure in any X-Men project that is 100% faithful to the source material because he's NOT a central figure in the comics. Wolverine in the comics is at his finest when he's barely there. Just let him show up, make some smartass remarks, and do what he does best. Sure, I understand that creative license can be taken but I don't think it justifies making him the central figure in the new series. If it were up to me, it would never be "Wolverine and the X-Men", it'd just be simply "The X-Men".

But it's not up to me, and I understand the choices that the producing network makes will be in the interests of garnering viewership.

Now please, Horrorfan, either pull your head out of your ass and make a cohesive argument, or leave.

yeah it should include wolverine, but dosnt have to be called "wolverine and the x-men" he would be better suited being the loner renegade on the team imo, cyclops as leader (and yes he can hold it on his own, he isnt "boring" he is as boring as the writers on the show make him, he has very cool powers and they could easily make him less stiff etc) in the same vein however it would be nice to have some x-men who have perhaps not been main characters on previous x-men toons, angel and iceman for instance (altho iceman did start to feature a bit in evolution)

I agree, but that's almost exactly what they did with X-Men Evolution... I just don't see how they can give us a new animated series but still make it different from TAS and Evolution, you know? If anything I'd like to see it a little more on the TAS end of the spectrum by making them older and more "generic X-Men" than specifically high-school students.

But I don't know, I think the X-franchises are kind of burnt out after the movie trilogy, so it might take awhile for the demand to grow for an animated series :(

yeah they should definatly be an older lot, but i think i should be character driven, its just they always seem to go for similar main chracter (wolvie, cyclops, jean, storm) it was a good idea they had in evo, and i liked the use of other chracters as the jr. team, still collosus hasnt featured at the forfront of an X toon yet so maybe we will get him!!

Who cares, Wolverine is over rated, the less we see of him the better.

The title is awful. But hopefully the show will be good, as a lot of good people are involved.

And so far:
Cyclops
Wolverine
Nightcrawler
Angel
Kitty
Rogue

Are the confirmed characters.

hmmmmmmn id rather get rid of rougue and have collosus, would be good with kitty, but hey its a different team

Wasn't this originally scheduled for Summer 2007? Presumably after Wolverine slipped so too will the series. That said, they could quite easily go ahead, and time the second or third season of the animated series to be released with the movie.

So, does the title mean that it is like a sequal to X3 or something?
"Wolverine and the X-Men" sounds like he is leading them, but then there is Cyclops. Maybe it shows that the Pheonix didn't kill him.

I hope the show is its own show and not related to the movies at all.
