So What is Dan Yelling at?

From the trailer, there is a shot of Dan falling to his knees yelling in the Artic snow.

There is no such shot in the GN from what I can tell.

Maybe he finds out about the Squid outside and is decidedly upset about it? The eternal optimist in me hopes that's as far as it goes.

But still I think it's more of a "3 Million dead" yell than a "That Guy I'm kind of friends with who is always breaking into my house and now wants to send the world BACK into WW3 is dead" Yell.

It does have me quite curious. What's interesting is that it appears to be outside. I think that's the tunnel behind him, and you can see snow falling, as well as some snow collected near the floor.

My guesses are that either Dan follows Rorschach outside and watches as Manhattan kills him, or that this actually takes place inside, but after a giant Dr. Manhattan has broken through the window. If that's the case, and it takes place inside, it could be a reaction to a number of things.

My biggest fear is that when they show up, Veidt hasn't carried out the plan yet. There's some kind of fight, then Adrian hits the button, does it, and Dan screams. I dont like that idea a) because Veidt's supposed to be smart enough to have done it before they got there, and b) it gets rid of my favorite line, "i did it 35 minutes ago". Hopefully that's not the case.

It's currently one of my only worries about the film. I'm actually quite stumped by it, though. Nothing seems to really fit. If it's Rorschach's death, what's with the reflection in his goggles? Maybe studio lights they forgot to take out? Not to mention the reaction seems a bit much for that. I mean, it makes sense that he'd react in some way, but falling to his knees and screaming "no"?

it MIGHT have something to do with Manhattan and Laurie returning to earth and/or warping through time. Manhattan is doing that whole "informing Laurie two minutes in the future thing" are around this time right? maybe they shifted it around a little, like Laurie appears in a ghostly vision and fades away before Dans eyes

I think its Dan seeing Rorshach after Manhattan kills him....If so I think its a good addition...Also if you watch the trailer...its cut in away that has some reveals. After the Comedian is thrown out the window it cuts to Veidt. And Right After Manhattan zaps the Army guy, it immediatly cuts to Dans freak out....I dont think thats random. I think Its a sly hint at the story.

I agree with what most are saying its when Dr. Manhattan kills Rorshach, but Dan is suppose to be having sex during this scene. Unless that idea was scrapped.

After reading the rough draft script by David Hayter from 2003 that's on watchmencomicmovie.com, I can safely say that it's most likely Dan's reaction to Rorschach's death, because Dan does in fact witness it in that rough draft, and David Hayter was involved with the current script, which would mean that that part stayed. In my opinion, I like it even more that Dan witnesses it, it adds to the story I think.

It's clearly him watching Rorschach die. And yes, it adds to the story. Dan and Rorschach's relationship is fantastic in the latest draft.

Just a little note, he's not wearing his goggles on his eyes in that scene. They seem to be reflecting the bay of tvs Ozm. has though.

I dunno, none of these really seem appropriate for the kind of yelling he was doing. I mean sure he would be devastated to see/hear about New York/Hollis/Rorscach, but the way he was screaming in the trailer, you would think someone just shoved a pinecone up his ass...
