So What is Dan Yelling at?

darth_vader_nooo.jpg

but seriously, its brightly lit, making me think of the Antarctica location...but he wouldnt be yelling at Ozzy, cuz they would be inside, and no one witnesses Raw Sharks death other than Doc

i think what they can do for this scene is the following :

"Dan and Laurie are inside wondering where Jon has gone then fall asleep after maybe kissing a bit don't have to be naked after some sex like in the book. John walks pass them with a smile of approval like in novel then he walks outside seeing Rorschach then they argue over whats right and wrong about what Adrian did. Dan hears the Commotion walks outside and sees Rorschach being killed By Manhattan and that is where we can see Dan drop and scream of seeing his friend being killed.

See, I'm not so okay with this new "deeper relationship" between Dan and Rorschach. One of my favorite aspects of the story was the fact that Dan always felt a bit uncomfortable around him.

It's nothing that isn't in the book. It just makes Rorschach's death that much more powerful. Because he was essentially, up to that point, starting to redeem himself in some fashion.

I'm inclined to believe that it's Dan reacting to Rorchach's death.

I always thought it was odd that the graphic novel never ellaborated on it at all.

He's probably just screaming cause he stubbed his toe and got sand in his eyes. That would explain why his goggles aren't on.

Maybe he's screaming because Archie froze over and was eaten by hungry seals.

If he is screaming of Rorschach's death, I really hope that scene plays out well.

see i found it much more powerful that rorschach was alone when he died, because it cements the loneliness of both his character and dans. I also prefer that Dan's reaction to all this horrible **** going on around him is go off with Laurie and **** her, I think it's much more human than falling to your knees and screaming NOOOOOO or ARRRRGHHH

Its defintly a 3million dead scream, if not a scene they just added for dramatic effect for the trailer

It does seem to fit more with what happens in New York rather than what happens to Rorscach.

i know its been said quite a number of times. but i thought it was when he found out about hollis, but untill i read this thread i didnt even realize that there was snow in that part. so now im just confused.

also: epic fail for me not noticing the snow.

Probably after finding out they were too late to prevent the master-plan from hatching.

i dont like the idea of anyone witnessing Raw Sharks death...its not right, Dan is supposed to be with Laury...no seeing him die

i agree, i like the idea of no one being there when rorschach dies, it just makes his death all more WTF?! if you understand what i mean by that,

And if Dan arrives after Rorschach has been killed and Dr. Manhattan has left?

Maybe it has been changed so Ozy hits the button in front of them or it could be to Dr. Manhattan gets blasted in that scene but Dan doesn't know that he'll just put himself back together or Ozy smacking Laurie around.... or this... or that.

Hopefully it will just fit into the movie right and not be a total Darth Vader moment.

And if Dan arrives after Rorschach has been killed and Dr. Manhattan has left?

That's not a bad idea. The whole event goes down, then Dan walks out afterwards to see a red splatter on the ground.

I guess the biggest question is how/if he goes from there, to making love to Laurie in the other room. I really like the shot of Manhattam walking by the two as they sleep, then walking over water. But it should still work.

I can imagine Dan, in a state of shock or disbelief or something, coming back inside after finding Rorschach's remains and needing to let all his emotions out (to Laurie, of course), in a heartfelt conversation. It's easy to imagine the transition to the sexytime from this "heartfelt conversation".

I'm with you 100% on this. But with the way it looks it's pretty likely that is whats going to happen.

But didn't that discomfort kinda resolve itself while they were both on Archie? I always thought that Dan deeply cared about Rorschach, no matter if he sometimes scared the hell out of him.

How i picture it:

Ozymandias propose to Dr. Manhattan, Silk Spectre, Nite Owl and Rorschach to keep everything as a secret. Everyone agree, except Rorschach, who leaves. Ozymandias goes back to his laboratory and Dr. Manhattan disappears. Dan and Laurie start to talk about their relationship. She wants to make love, but he leaves, saying he must find Rorschach. From the bottom of the tunnel, he sees Jon and Rorschach talking and the snow around Jon slowly burning. He runs, trying to prevent it, but it's too late. Rorschach screams ''DO IT!'' and Jon vaporizes him. Dan fall to his knees screaming. Jon looks at him and smiles, leaving. Dan is in shock. He goes back inside and just bangs Silk spectre. Doctor Manhattan later passes thew them to talk with Ozymandias, and everything transpires as the graphic novel from here

QFT, i totally agree.

Most likely it's Dan finding the gooey smear that used to be Rorschach. But I like to believe that he's seen future gas prices and is freaking out at how much it's gonna cost to refuel Archie in two decades.
