So...whats happening with John Singleton?

hell yeah. I love that guy.

Not a star, though. I'd think theyd want a star to bring in non-comic readers.

And that's why Tyrese will most likey get thet role. They need somebody who will bring in a bigger auidence.

I sure like Roger Cross for Luke Cage...and it would be a MUCH better movie if it were 'Heroes for Hire'.

I'm surprised to hear that from you considering you are championing my earlier suggestion of Skarsgard for Thor!

And lest we forget, Hugh Jackman was a NOBODY until he was cast as Wolvie.

X-Men had other stars, though.

I think Thor's main gimmick is that its a THOR movie. He's a totally different kind of superhero than we've seen before. It's a fantasy movie AND a superhero movie. that's what'll bring people in, I think. I also get the feeling that Skarsgard may be a long shot. They'll probably want a star for that, too.

Don't get me wrong, I don't prefer a star to a lesser-known. But I think that's what the studio will look for.

You never know...maybe they don't want to fork over that $20m payday on the first go-round...

also true. But big names usually bring in more executive producers who want in on the action. It's much easier to get somebody to pay for a movie starring Brad Pitt than one starring Robert Hoffman.

Well, they need a famous guy as Iron Fist, then...and maybe a star as the baddie.

Well then you run into problems like "is this no-name going to out bill me and my ego?"

It's a dirty game.

big co-sing from me on the whiny b*****s part.... if i did not love what i do, i would find a way to collect comic books and play video games for a living!! :whatever:

Thor will have a well rounded cast, yes skarsgard is a looooong shot. This is not an ensemble piece like x-men, where an unknown really stands a chance, A-listers 1st, then B-list (succesful co-leads ready to make that next step). GOD i hope all the A-list people turn THOR down!! None of them are right for the character!!! (can we agree on that?!)

Thus the same reason Cage will HAVE to have a name, wesley was at luky lotto ticket with blade. I dont know any unkown black guy that can do cage the same way. $40 mill plus (cage's estimated budget) is a risk for an untested LEAD in a movie... M.J.W. or Terry Crews (i think this could be his big break out role)...sighs...but Tyrese is the safe investment...

...hopefully marvel saves the audition tapes.. would make a nice feature for the dvd..

Well, I suppose broblacksteel has a point about Ty being a safe investment. I'm still hopeful that they'll try some aspiring new blood that will landslide the roll, with size, presents and excellent performance!

From what I understand, Singleton's next project is the Keyshia COle story. Hopefully he'll focus on that & Panther can end up in more fitting hands.

Too bad they didn't have a "good sport" category.

I want an Edward Zwick Black Panther movie

but I know that'll never happen. :csad:

Tobey was pretty much a nobody, too. However, Spider-Man & X-Men are well-known properties that can sell themselves. Black Panther, by contrast, is not.
I'm generally against casting big names in comic book movies for many reasons. If that big name is the best for the role, then go for it. But to cast them for their fame alone is a recipe for disaster & it doesn't always work.

Why should they keep John Singleton away from Black panther?

I think he's the perfect choice to direct the movie, and that can't be overemphasized! Singleton is a very good director, he has made some very good movies!

Michael Jai White is absolutely perfect for Luke Cage! Tyrese is way to scrawny to play any kind of superhero!
