Soda versus Pop

i always have and always will call it pop.

....unless it's pepsi, and then i've been known to refer to that as, lifesblood, god, my best friend or "i need one NOW!!!"

Just call it by brand name....or if speaking to children 'fizzy juice' :)

Of all the bloody things to argue about.
Who bloody cares. Let and let live ****ers.

Isn't this a soda versus pop thread?

laawl, am i trixored?

anyone got any clue what "other" might be?
It was just an observation about how the differences in terminology are regional.

Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop :D I'm a lunatic, Elijya :p

No one within a thousand mile radius of me says "pop"

its soda..ahh it irks me when people say"pop:

So this is what colleges are up to these days?

Yes, I'd like to do my thesis on pop vs soda terminology in the US.

anyone use both?

sodapop

yeah but to make sure and stick with the proper southern slang, I pronounce it sodiepop

My friend moved to Nebraska for college and told me about the whole "pop" fiasco over there when he got back to Cali. Non-corner states are ridiculous.

I've always called it soda, when I hear someone say pop, I think they are still living in the 50's

Soda!!!!!!!!:cmad:

my gf calls it pop... its only cute when SHE says it :cmad:

I have relatives in the chilly northern lands of Michigan and Illinois. They use pop.:down:dry::whatever:

I use the generic but not stupid soda, or brand name since I tend to keep Mountain Dew around the house. I've never heard fizzy drink until this day.

If I'm feeling eXtreme and on the edge, I'll use 'frosty carbonated beverage', but never pop.

Soda or Coke (more likely because of my preference than anything else).
