Sofia Coppola has tapped Emma Watson to star in "The Bling Ring," the true story of a group of teenagers who commit a string of celebrity burglaries.
Coppola will write and direct the pic, and will produce with brother Roman Coppola and Youree Henley. Executive producers are Fred Roos and Michael Zakin.

"I'm excited about the young cast we're assembling and I'm looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles," Coppola said.

Though Watson has said she wants to dedicate more time to her studies, thesp has still found time for work, focusing more on small-budgeted projects post-"Harry Potter." She was recently seen in The Weinstein Co.'s "My Week With Marilyn" and just wrapped production on Fox Searchlight's "Perks of Being a Wallflower." She's also been tapped to star in David Yates' "Your Voice in My Head" for Warner Bros.

Coppola has made a habit of giving rising female stars material that's allowed them to break into more adult, such as Scarlett Johansson in "Lost in Translation" and, more recently, Elle Fanning in Coppola'ss last pic, "Somewhere."

As a huge fan of Coppola's work, it goes without saying that I look forward to this film. In my opinion, Watson has the most potential to have a great career beyond the Potter movies out of the HP trio, and I'm excited to see them pair-up.

^she only has the best potential because she can change her look while harry and ron's potter looks were too iconic and identifiable

That might be true. Still it will take some time for all three of them to break away from their HP roles, but I'm sure they will do well in their post HP careers.

Well that depends on whether you liked her previous films. I liked the film, but I'd say that it's my least favorite of her four films. She has this very specific style that some people might not like and I respect her ability to continue using her own voice. As I said, I like her work but I understand those who can't get behind her films.

Consider me interested, Sofia has a knack of getting good performances by the actresses in her films and I'm happy that Watson is continuing to distance herself with taking on different roles. And it's based on true events, I had no idea but then looking at the celebrities that they robbed, I couldn't care less.

Sounds good.

Taissa Farmiga Joins The Bling Ring

With "American Horror Story" behind her, Taissa Farmiga is going bigscreen, grabbing leading roles in Sofia Coppola's "Bling Ring" and the indie "Jamesy Boy." In "Bling Ring," Farmiga joins Emma Watson -- whose casting Variety first reported Wednesday -- as a teen involved in the true celebrity burglary ring story that Coppola is helming and writing.

She was impressive in AHS and is another great addition to the cast. Can't wait to see who else will join.

Leslie Mann, Israel Broussard & More Join The Bling Ring

Leslie Mann and Israel Broussard have joined the cast of The Bling Ring, Sofia Coppola’s latest production.

Based on true events that took place in Beverly Hills, the project sees Emma Watson lead an ensemble cast to tell the story of a group of fashion and fame-obsessed teens who broke into the homes of celebrities. Coppola, who wrote the script and is directing, is hoping to break a new crop of actors with the movie and has also cast newcomers Katie Chang, Claire Pfister and Georgia Rock to make their feature debut as members of the thieving ring. Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) is also in the cast.

Mann will play a mom of two of the girls from the Bling Ring, Broussard is the male lead of the movie.

New shots of Emma Watson on set. Wait for it.....

That is a bit too much, I don't think people should be allowed to be that attractive, I don't know what God was thinking, well, y'know, let them be attractive, but at a certain point, if you are gonna look that attractive, I don't think you should be allowed to have your photo taken. It's not fair on the ugly majority.

Holy crap, it's hot and really creepy at the same time. It's like coming home after a few years and finding out the nice girl next door grew up to be a pretty hot chick.

and one day that pretty hot chick is gonna grow up to look like somebody's granny, so if you are gonna marry such a woman, you best be sure you love her as a person first and foremost.

Anyway, I am taken, she, and all the rest of them are gonna have to settle for the B-listers.

It's crazy how they gave her the typical 2000's LA Girl look. It's a big transformation.

It's nice to see she grew her hair out again.

^I agree. this film get's by stamp of approval. seems kind of like that new harmony corime movie, but without that whole awkward jail bait thing.

So, yeah. Trailer's out. I like.:o Can someone GIF the first shot of Emma dancing in the club for old Symbi?
