Sequels Some roles need to be recast

Let's face it. Some members of the cast are just too old now. Famke Jansson, Hugh Jackman, Alan Cumming and Halle Berry have all had good runs but they've gotten a bit too old for their current roles.

Let's hear it for some recasting suggestions

I personally would go with

Rose Leslie - Phoenix
Wolverine - Emile Hirsch
Nightcrawler - Daniel Brühl
Storm - Jennifer Hudson


And if something happens to Patrick Stuart or Ian McKellan, I'd have Christoph Waltz play old Magneto and old Xavier would be portrayed by Ben Kingsley.

Storm needs to be recast, but I don't know who. I don't think Jennifer Hudson would be a good fit (acting wise). Jackman is getting old, but I can't think of a decent replacement. Like the Ben Kinglsey idea though.

Part of the reason they havent' rebooted the series is because they're NOT ready to recast. It's fun to pretend but that's not what's gonna happen. Not unless it's for a prequel. Not until X-Men goes back to Marvel.

Yeah, Hudson as Storm, no just no. How about Paula Patton? Ben Kingsley would make a good Xavier, but he's not that much younger than Stewart.

No-one needs recasting. Retire Xavier and Magneto if Stewart and McKellen will not return (the characters can still appear in the past). They're the only characters I see aging out. Jackman will return for a good part, he loves the character.

Don't really agree with your other picks but Daniel Bruhl would be excellent casting as Nightcrawler. Good choice.

Yeah, you have a point. Jennifer Hudson wouldn't be all that great as Storm.

Nia Long would be a good choice but she's just as old as Halle. Kerry Washington, Nicole Beharie or Bianca Lawson would probably be the best choice. I also second Paula Patton but she might not last as long in the role as somebody younger.

Let's put it this way. Makeup artists can do a world of good but Robert Downey Jr. getting injured on the set of Iron Man 3 is proof that you can indeed be too old for roles like this. If the alternative is a stuntman or shorter action scenes, I'd honestly rather see a recast.

And what's wrong with Rose Leslie? I mean, Hugh Jackman played a Canadian, an Englishman (and later Irishman) played a German and now a Frenchman is playing an Aussie. Why can't a Scot play an American?

No roles "need" to be recast until there is a hard reboot the entire franchise. Just retire the character and replace with another from the X-franchise until then.

Ben Kingsley is only three years younger than Patrick Stewart!

unlike most comic book movie franchises that feature one main lead hero,
X-men has a near endless list of characters they can always bring in... instead of recasting the existing character

I can see Jackman at the very least in two more Movies, after DOFP. He looked his freaking best in The Wolverine. All the wrinkles that come with age, added a **** ton of character to him. Heck, X1 Wolverine looks like a boy by comparison.

If there was one solo movie I might not totally roll my eyes to(for me both Wolverine solo movies are underwhelming and I'd rather see him in a team tbh), I think Jackman should do Old Man Logan before the reboot.
